Hmmm minimum are on the high side ( btw i'm guessing the 8800gts they reccomend is the slow 320mb since the 512mb 8800gts is close to the performance of a GTS250 ) on the other hand the recommend are very reasonable actually especially for Ati owners since the 3870 is much slower than the GTS250 that it recommends on the nvidia side ( in fact its slower than my 8800gt the 3870 )

Nice after what i seen latelly i expected a quad core and a freakin gtx on the reccomended. Its kinda weird how every game now has a mimum of 8800 gts and people still say that console hardware is outdated.

Wait, it requires DirectX 10, but it can run on Windows XP? What the hell?!:?

meh, they probably are talking about running the game at 1680*1050, quite a big jump from 1280*720. But who knows? System requirements aren't really that useful, it just means they tested with certain parts and it worked ok, then some other ones made it work great. I know plenty of people using lesser cards, but a processor like an e8400 and having great results.

Doesn't seem CPU intensive at all which is good.

But my Card (an 8800gt) barely passes at all.

This is either bad optimization or listing of specs.

I mean I can run crysis looking like this just fine (my own screenshot)

FPS counter on the top right.

I am hoping it's just bad generalization of specs required.

Otherwise the Console version better look like crap.

Well my mind cant grasp that in order to run this game at the lowest settings you need atleast a 8800 gts. I though consoles used 7400 GT quality or something, just how bad they optimize it that in order to run with the worst graphics settings it needs an 8800 gts which is more powerfull than console hardware?

Once I upgrade to the hd6 series (in about 6 months) this might be a fun pick up game later.

My phenom II 945 should run it no problem.

Steam store page. The minimum kind of make sense. There will be a LOT of zombies on screen at once. It seems like optimization will be ok since the gap between recommended and minimum are quite low.

Not really.

A 5750 is around the performance of a GTS 250 and the 5770 is a bit better than the 5750.

So it's not miles ahead.

I find it weird that the minimum vs recommended are so close on gpus.

An 8800gts 512 vs a gts 250 is about as much performance difference as a 5750 vs a 5770 maybe even less.

The fastest DX9 card is probably not as good as the minimum recommended card I would guess.

 What part of 8800 gts "minimum" did you miss. You cant max this with 8800GT.

Either that or the requirements are wrong..... :P or there is the case of the game being a poor port with few graphics options in which case it will hardly have any "superior" graphics than the console version apart from resolution. :(

I just dont know what to think, but i think the way the pc requirements are rising on multiplats more and more and the consoles remain the same is somewhat weird. I just dont think the graphics quality is superior enough to justify for such requirements. From what i am told the pc hardware are "years" far superior than console hardware . Yet requirements keep on rising, just how bad they look on consoles?

I am gonna rent this on ps3 and buy it on pc just to judge.

I overreacted when i said miles better but the 5770 is in fact a fair bit faster than the 5750 ( 800 shaders as opposed to 720 and a 150mhz higher GPU clock and 4 texture units more make a significant difference ) despite both been in the 57xx series Also as for the 8800gts they most likely mean the old 320mb 96shaders version ( seeing they recommends a 3850 on ati side of thinks ) which is a bit slower than a 9600gt As for the 8800gts 512mb performance is actually almost the same as 250gts and is not as different as a 5750vs5770 ( in fact the 8800gts was rebranded as a 9800gtx then the 9800gtx got a better version with a bit higher clocks named 9800gtx+ and the gts 250 is in fact a rebranded 9800gtx+ and the only difference its the fabrication one based on 65nm while the gts250 is 55nm thus lower temps and power consumption )

Actually they most likely by 8800gts minimum they meant the old version the 96shaders 320mb version seeing as on Ati side the minimum is a 3850 which is a bit slower than the 8800gts 320mb version. An 8800gt is closely related to the 8800gts 512 mb with the 8800gts having a bit more muscle thanks to an extra 16shader units so the 8800gt is about 10-15% slower than an 8800gts which it became a rebranded gts250 ( the gts 250 is the exact same 8800gts but on a 55nm fabrication process and with higher clock speeds ). So all in all an 8800gt its about 15-20% slower than that recommended gts250 and if not maxing the game with an 8800gt should be able to play with mostly high settings at reasonable resolutions

Here is the link for the yougamers game-o-meter for dead rising 2 ( my 8800gt is a fair bit faster than the minimum according to their game-o-meter which is quite accurate as opposed to the "can you run it" which is way off thus like i said most likely its a 8800gts 320mb the minimum they recommennd )

I bet you could, should be benchmark sometime soon. Lost planet 2 has the same requirements, but runs on much less... as does devil may cry 4 and the og lost planet (once patched).

Do these stats even matter these days? Don't accost me yet, they are needed, but when in the last decade have they been on par with consumer expectations of performance? Devs/pubs seem to think that everyone plays @ 640x480 with everything on low. With that said I doubt this will be the most demanding of games out of the box.I was envious of console owners when the original came out as zombie murdering is always fun.

some devs yes, others no. I figure this will run on much less, since the game engine capcom uses runs like butter on pc with much lesser hardware.

To be frank I think they exaggerate system requirements a lot these days. A few years back understating system requirements was a problem, people were meeting the recommended requirements; and only getting medium. Their minimums were just so you could load the damn game, never mind actually playing it. Now they have gone too far the other direction, they are stating way more than you need.

That said I think Capcom has dropped the ball lately. Prior to Lost Planet 2, all their games ran amazingly well. Now their games are getting more resource hogging, despite visuals that don't reflect the requirements.

These are console ports after all. Their hardware hasn't been getting any better, but the ports are becoming hogs for some reason. I know developers need to minimize their costs this generation, but it's self defeating if they are hurting their sales. People are going to see those specifications, for a freaking console port, and be put off.

Hardware requirements for console ports shouldn't be going up so much, I'm certainly not noting any visual improvement to match the requirements. I'd have to see some benchmarks to judge if those requirements are exaggerated or not.

sorry for late reply i am also looking forward to this game man i have a 9600gt i am wandering that can i rn it or not

TerrorRizzing

You cant. 9600=8600 so you cant since it needs atleast a 8800.

I bet you could, should be benchmark sometime soon. Lost planet 2 has the same requirements, but runs on much less... as does devil may cry 4 and the og lost planet (once patched).

Yah I maxed out directx 9 Lost planet 2 at 1680x1050 with 2xaa and I was getting around 40+ FPS.

.

This was done with;

.

AMD Athlon x2 5200+ 2.7ghz

8800gt

2 gigs ddr2 800mhz ram

windows ultimate 64 bit

.

.

So I am fairly skeptical on the posted requirements.

.

.

.

Although Lost Planet 2 had the recommended PC requirements as;

OS: Windows Vista/7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3.0 Ghz / AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.0 GHz
Memory: 2 Gb
Video Memory: 512 Mb
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 9800 / ATI Radeon HD 4800

.

.

Which are lower in the GPU section compared to the Dead Rising recommended requirements.

.

Come on...enough crysis pics already

Ok guys to stop all this nonsense about having a 8800gts as minimum i have tried it with the following. Amd 5600+ x2 2.9ghz 2gb ram Zotac 9500gt 1gb ddr2 video card windows 7 home x86 For sure you cant max everything out but with all settings on medium this game runs fine. So for all you lot wondering if it will work in my opinion anything above the 9500gt will play fine.

Steam store page. The minimum kind of make sense. There will be a LOT of zombies on screen at once. It seems like optimization will be ok since the gap between recommended and minimum are quite low.

I even have heard reports from my friends that when there are a lot of zombies around it even lags on the 360.

Funny story, i had dead space 1 on my "games to buy" list. I figured i couldnt run it on my rig at the time so i tried postponing getting it as much as possible. I knew it was a good game and i didnt wanna ruin the experience by playing it on a crappy rig. I managed to get it from a friend during a dry month of no new games and wow did it run like sweet cocoa butter on my old rig. Hope DS2 is as optimized.
