So for those of you who have finished Dead Space 2 and don't remember the ending- SPOILER ALERT- AT the end Ellie goes back to get you withthat ship of hers, and after you manage to get on board and leave evertying to explode- hope that anoying regenerating creature freaking died- you turn your head to her and you see that her eye patch is on the other side then it should have been, the same side where you got that needle in your eye.

I wanted to read what you guys think is the meaning of all this. I think that just like his wife, Ellie was the creation of his mind, something to hold on to while having those experiences. If so then it's strange how did all those things happen with Ellie, like flying the ship, driving that truck, and why did her eye got damaged long before Isaac's. It really is kind of a bummer cuz I wanted it to have a good ending with ahope, and not a twisted one. What do you think?

Worst final boss fight ever! Anyway, uhm, as I remember the ending was pretty straightforward and I'm pretty sure Ellie was a real person.

I thought the ending was horrid. I kept waiting for the big ending, I was waiting for a big creature after the Marker fight. But it never came. The credits just rolled and I was like WTF??? but the rest of the game was great

I watched a play-through. I was interested in DS2 because it has a really great back-story and some solid themes. Really underwhelming sequel in the story department.

I never finished it, but this ending sounds great, might reinstall it to complete the campaign. Hopefully there'll be a 3 as great as 2, I thought 1 was garbage.

There will be a 3 and its said to be more appealing to the masses. In other words it will abandon all its horror in favour of more action. Like dead space 2 did.I really enjoyed the game but its far too action packed. Not enough scares

Isaac looks at her suddenly and she laughs and says, "What?". This is because in the first game, Isaac looked around to see a Necromorph apparition of Nicole. Thinking he might have a similar episode, he looks at Ellie in Dead Space 2 quickly but is happy to see that she is real and not a hallucination.

The ending was very clear. I was laughing myself when she said,"What?" :)

You need to rewatch the ending. Ellie loses her right eye to Stross, and that is the same eye that is patched up during the ending. Ellie was a real person and not a figment of Isaac's imagination. After all the **** Isaac has been through, I thought it was cool to see how he managed to save one life at least. A good ending, overall.

I really liked the ending because it was a throwback to Dead Space 1 with the same music, but somehow they made it funny.

WATCH
You can see at the time of 3:55 that Ellie has the patch on her left eye (her own left eye), and don't say it's because we're looking at the transmissionfrom the other side cuz for the whole game transmissions are the same both sides. And on the time of 5:43 you can see the patch onher right eye (her own right eye). Well.. thoughts?

Bye the way yeah the final boss really disapoint

Biggest twist for me was that the woman with Isaac never died. Usually everyone he meets dies. I was sure she was going to be dead when
that guy stabbed her in the eye then bumped into you
Great game, kind of abandoned the feeling of loneliness a little from Dead Space, also how many times throughout both games do the people say "Damn! Looks like XX is broken...Isaac, go fix it". I enjoyed the amount of variety in the game compared to the first; environments are always refreshing, enemies are less predictable and ammo is more scarce.

The ending was ok, it wrapped things up nicely, but the boss could have been a lot better than being left to shoot waves of annoying little shadows and, yet again, shooting tentacles.

First Ellie was real person and i liked her very much in the game

Second Boss fight , srsly i would say there is no boss fight and ending is sucks too , the first was more like " wow WTF just happened? " and keeps u thinking

Third the game sucks action > horror , i want to say Zero horror , i played the game like 5 times on different difficulty hoping it will be challenging and i am disappointed also was trying to beat the game in 3 hours but never succeed :( .... always beat the game in 4 hours :D , i want to try the first again but the mouse lag keeps me away

Anyway hope they bring the third one to PC and sales were good to them , also was thinking how awesome the game will look in frostbite 2 :)

Looks like it's the same eye, there was something wrong with the transmission or his head, that's why he was worried that something might be off in the end.

The transmission part is probably just a slip up during development. Seriously man, it is not the big issue and there is nothing conspiratorial about it. The ending clearly showed that the patch is where it should be and that Ellie is a real person who returned the favor and rescued Isaac in the end.

Even better lighting and a very good particle, physics and destruction engine would be great in dead space 3. The lighting in dead space 2 is extremely good. Really brings the environments to life.

I loved the ending. Being able to finish off that guy was satisfying as hell. Not every ending needs a big boss fight. Technically, the ending did have a "boss fight" but it wasn't much of a boss.

There's gonna be a DS3 for sure and I'm hoping they tie up all the loose ends in the story. I have a feeling the infection will come to earth this time. Both games gave hints as to some kind of government conspiracy behind the whole marker affair.

Interesting. If it does go to earth, I wonder how they will capture that "lost in space" feeling of dread. Technically, it wouldn't even be possible because you'll be on earth. Hmm. They could do something really great with it though. I wonder how Earth will look like in DS3. Oooh... now I want DS3 even more... :P

Dead earth?? LOL :P

But that would be interesting. I don't think it could work though. Same reason none of the Alien films are set on earth

I liked the ending in Dead Space 2 it immediately feels similar to the original but then creates a good lighthearted moment when it turns out to be different. I think in a way it kinda acknowledges that the original ending was kinda cheap and not necessary.

We must have been playing different games then. There may have been more combat but it was still slow and methodical like the original and the setpiece battles were way better. IMO the scares were pretty good and the chracters were great. I was a huge fan of the original and was not dissapointed with the sequel. And to answer the OP. I thought the ending was pretty good, it wrapped up most of the loose ends, but still left room for 3. The lass boss battle was kinda meh, but I like the lead-up and how the game ended.

It's been awhile since i've played either game, but from what I remember the government and the Unitologists are both behind it and each have their own agendas. There are some plot holes that aren't addressed/explained, but basically the Unitologists want to use the marker(s) to turn everyone into necromorphs, which is why they keep and cryogenically store all of their members bodies after they pass away. The government reverse-engineered the original marker and made the red one, but had it shipped off to a far away solar system once they realized what it did (where Dead Space 1 takes place). Then there's the whole Overseer character that is introduced towards the end of Dead Space 2 which seems to be controlling both sides.

Alright so I love the DS games so I decided to read the novel (and graphic novel and comics)too and SPOILERS: The whole thing is a lie created by the military. Altman was never a messiah he was killed by the military and made into a martyr to publicize the whole thing. Altman tries to stop this whole thing and get away but they catch him. The military first saw the opportunity when people randomly started forming groups and started to worship the black marker in an undrewater research facility and started to see altman as a prophet because altman had seen the black marker (other people went crazy and were disposed of). So it is all a ploy by the government.

So ya, the book really spins the whole universe on it's head and in DS 2 when I see the writing of "Altman be praised" I just shake my head.
