[QUOTE="dinjo_jo"]Just got DeadSpace wanted to know which would be better kb + mouse or 360 controller heard there are problems with playing with kb and mouse. Please recommendcru3I don't own an XBOX or any type of console controllers, never have. Keyboard and Mouse worked just fine for me all the way through Dead Space. The controls take some getting used to, as they're not stock standard FPS speed/configuration but I never had any problems. The biggest issue most people complained about was lag with the mouse, which can be fixed by turning off Vsync.
Can you just edit a config file? There has to be a way to have normal controls. I hae heard alot of people say the same thing. I want to pick up Dead Space at some point.
kb and mouse is fine. I bought a 360 controller expecting the worst, but I ended up using a mouse for the entire playthrough. Although the rumble on 360 controller is kinda nice.

The controls are normal, they're just not as twitchy as a normal FPS since it's a survival/horror game. Honestly, they just take some getting used to, that's all. Turn Vsync off, spend 10-20 minutes playing the game and you won't have any problems moving or shooting. The kb+mouse controls are pretty terrible. I fixed it by turning off v-sync ingame, then using the rivatuner d3d overider to force v-sync and triple buffer. Works like a charm and the game is actually playable.

I disagree, I had no problems with the keyboard and mouse; it just takes getting used to. Great game...
360 controller is better for these kind of games. Save yourself time and don't even bother ******* around trying to config K&M..
[QUOTE="Tapout_076"]Wow, bold claim. Dont just say something is better, tell us why. I can give you plenty of reasons why m/kb is better for any 3rd person game.360 controller is better for these kind of games.

In some games, the xbox controller is more intuitive than the M/KB...for example Rise of the Argonauts and GTA IV. Those two games were clearly developed with controller optimization in mind. I haven't played Dead Space yet, so I cannot comment on that game.

Turn it off and it'll play just like every other shooter on the PC.I played the game with the k&M not knowing about the vsync fix. It was pretty bad at first but I eventually got used to it. I tried with the xbox360 controller also but that was much worse. Since the game relies on shooting off appendages, precise control is required and joypads just aren't very suited for that.

You arent giving a reason as to howGTA is more intuitive with a controller. Not familair with Rise of the Argonauts.GTA 4 is more intuitive with m/kb. And I'm actually going to tell you why, especially since I'm tired of M$ pushing their console controller on pc gamers.
I can look around faster. This makes me more aware of my surroundings, great for firefights abd even moreso for driving.
You can look in the direction you want to turn more quickly. If you meed to 180 with a controller you have to use the a button which means you have to take your thumb off the look stick, which means after the 180 you're staring at your windshield instead of looking at where you want to go. No problem like that with a mouse.
You cant turn with the handbrake and turn the camera at the same time with a controller. No limts like that with m/kb.
The analog control of acceleration and turning with a controller is nice but I can actually weave in and out of traffic, make normal turns and and u-turns much better with m/kb. Being able to turn from left to right more quickly helps quite a bit but having a control scheme that allows you to bind important actions to different fingers is what makes the biggest difference.
I spent at least 30 hours playing the 360 version and after 10 minutes on m/kb my driving skills were much better.
You cant sprint and look behind with a controller, you can with m/kb.
With m/kb, you can bind each weapon to an individual key. That would use up all the buttons a controller has, lol.
Using the phone while driving with a controller is more difficult than real life since you have to take the thumb off the turn key to use it. I bind the phone to one of my extra mouse buttons and using the mouse scroll for navigating coul'dnt be anymore natural.
Why the cybercafe is better with m/kb needs no explanation.

I played through the DSpace on 360.And I think it wouldn't have much troublewith a KB+Mouse. But from I could tell, the controll of Deadspace is trouble some...Heh.
Because not like MGS series that how you pressure the button makes adifferent move.
