Dear God, if you own Crysis, download this

Don't know if this is old news or not, but there is a new custom config mod that changes the graphics and performance of Crysis drastically. Large performance gains and higher qulaity graphics can be had by going here and downloading the mod:

Yeah, I got something similiar to this (includes TOD). I think it was called the "tripleCpack." I'm guessing this is an updated version of the one I already have. It's a great mod. Colors look amazing. Replaces soft shadows with hard shadows (increase in fps and looks better IMO). Swiftstrike5

Nah, there's more, but that's what I notice most. I don't think you can play on punkbuster servers with any config mods.

Can you tell me why its the worst engine ever?

I was able to load up this mod. I played the first level but everytime I try to load a saved game, it crashes. I tried 5 different saved games from different levels and they all crashed. Everything is SOOOO dark. I guess it's back to the drawing board. I'll have to uninstall. In the first level, graphics looked the same.. everything was just darker, giving it more contrast. It's like a little contrast ratio trick, sorta say. But overall, I didnt notice a difference.

Oh yeah, framerate was worst with this mod. It use to run smooth without the mod but it was really choppy with the mod.

I think I'm just going to stay away from mods/hacks, etc. Too risky and after this experience, it did more harm than good. That's just imo. Try it if you want.

Dude, is that really necessary? You don't like the game, that's fine, we get that. But the topic has nothing to do with how good or bad the game is, yet you saw fit to bring it up and state your opinion as fact, anyway. It's just obnoxious, man.

I mean, I wouldn't go around saying bad things about C&C Renegade, a game I really don't like, in a topic, say, asking for help on how to get past such and such a part. It'd just be a superfluous and rude gesture, serving no other purpose than to arrogantly grate my opinion in the faces of others who feel oppositely.

The optimization isn't great, but its better than most.

Thats true, but for example lets say there is water and in water REFLECTION OF CAR.

It can be REAL REFLECTION calculated in realtime - or it can be cheap image of that car "stretched over water" to look like reflection but in reality it isnt (something like in UT engine based game called Rainbow Six Vegas)

I will choose first one anytime - i dont like to be fooled

Warhead will be bether optimised,but i am afraid that they dont start using these "cheap tricks" like ones that most UT engine games use

I agree as well, it needs to be optimized better for warhead and Crytek knows this, Hell I have a amazing pc and had to run the game on med. to get decent framerates.

On a high resolution, I assume? I used to run it fairly well (25-30 average, dips no lower than 15 for a couple seconds) on mostly medium with sound and physics at high on my old 3200+ and 2GB of RAM and this same 7900GT with the res at 1024x768.

This is why it is important to read the entire thread in the link. You have to start a new game, as this does not work with previously saved games. The settings on saved games are vastly different than with the mod installed. Also, if your video card is overclocked , set it back to stock settings. For some reason this mod doesn't like overclocking. Hope this helps.

And as for the engine being poorly optimized:

I really don't think that the engine is poorly optimized. Crytek chose to set their game in the most graphically and physically demanding place they could: The Jungle. The sheer number of objects on screen (most of which are affected by physics) coupled with the high graphical fidelity, makes for an experience that is just much farther beyond what current hardware can handle. Now obviously there is quite a bit of room for improvement in any engine, but if they had decided to make the game a corridor shooter in indoor environments, no one would be complaining about optimization. The game would run fine. Crytek just gave us a title that pushes most established boundries to the extreme, even in design aspects.

Obviously this doesn't help anyone who bought the game, as we don't have computers from the future that can max this game out with the filters cranked to extremes, but I just thought I would give a little perspective. And by the way, most people people who b**** about this game not being able to be maxed out don't even have a monitor that supports the stupidly high resolutions that games are benchmarked at. Stop whining about things that don't even affect you.

tried to install it,but when i run the .exe installer file it says C:\admin\desktop\ccc2.21\tc221_installer.exe a referral was returned from the server... :'( it wont workkkkkkkkkkkk

I don't think it is working, it has been installing for 15-20 minutes and no progress, at the start there was an error message, but I told it to continue

Why won't it work?

I tried this mod quite a while ago and was impressed in a few areas like night levels. There's only one problem though I have with the mod which is the over dramatic color contrast. Sun light ect. looks down right terrible as if it was Adobe Photoshop and day levels lacks the realism compared to the default developers choice. The mod is worth a go though but my choice are the developers decisions.

Edit: I can't quite get my finger on why I'm not keen about the mod but it's only preference.
