not really, GPU's can tolerate high temperatures. Unless your planning on overclocking more, or you worried your video card is runnin too hot then one could get one.

That heatsink is not compatible with the 8800 GT. The VF1000 is though.

What are you talking about? The VF900 IS compatible with the 8800GT.

Really? I guess newegg should update the specifications for that product's capability.

Well just bump up the fan speed using rivatuner(just need to do it once) All 8800GT's fans run at 29% that I can telljust bumping it up to 40% gives you a 5-7C drop without really hearing the fan, Then 50% can give you around up to 10C drop, but you will start to hear the fan but if you got other fans going its hard to hear if your not trying to listen. Well With my 8800Gt it was maxing 84C while playing crysis with the fan at 29%. When I bumped it up to 50% It was maxing 73-75C after hours of Crysis. If your not planing to overclock this is the best thing to do.

Well, Zalman itself didn't include the 8800GT as a supported card on their official site. The 7800GTX has the same mounting holes as the 8800GT, where the former is supported by the VF900. That alone prooves somehow thatthe VF900fits on the 8800GT.

I recommend the Palit Sonic 8800gt, it's overclocked and has a better positioned fan! Most of all it's cheap, take a look at what it's like here: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1255/palit_geforce_8800gt_sonic_graphics_card/index.html

Cheap one, get Arctic Cooling S1 with an extra Fan (would cost you like 30 USD) But to me i would get TT DuOrb. Its really nice cooler though you cant ctrl the fans speed. newegg just had new stock from those coolers for aobut 45 USD.
