I have asked a few questions on here already and now I picked my parts. I would like your opinions on this build to see if it is alright since this is the first PC I am building. Should I change any of the parts? I am planning on overclocking 4.0 to 4.3. This will be mainly for gaming. Also am I missing anything? If there is any suggestions please let me know. One thing I am not sure is should I get a Z68 instead of P67 for the motherboard?

Here is my list-

My CPU is 2500k. I did not bother linking that since you all know it.

Looks pretty solid I'd say. Not bad choice of parts.

Do you think this would be fine instead of the liquid cooler? The cooler is sold out and plus this would be easier to install anyways.

Have you considered the Ante Kuhler series of liquid coolers?

any decent air cooler is good enough unless you plan to do extreme overclocking The coolermaster hyper 212 will save you money and its as good as that thermaltake Another suggestion. Why dont you look for Z68 motherboards . With $150 you will buy that p67 you can find a great z68 mobo ( not that p67 is a bad choice or anything but still z68 is better ). Other than that pretty solid build

No I have never tried them. All of my PCs have been store bought and the only parts I have installed was ram and graphic cards. So I am not sure what to get really. The fan looked easier to install though lol.

Most premade waterloops are made by a company called Asetek, so the Antec's are quite similar to Corsair's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835209049 which is the Antec Kuhler 620 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835209054 which is the Antec Kuhler 920

Change the cooler to a 212+ and save a ton of money.

Get a Z68 motherboard and I believe the samsung spinpoint F3 is a faster hard drive.

Also i'd probably go for a better case.

Thanks for the advice. For my motherboard I think I will switch to this one because it is z68 like you all suggested. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131806

Good enough choice of parts, you dont need such a strong cooler though for a 4-4.3 overclock. i run my 2500k at 4.6 ghz on a cheap gigabyte z68 mobo (ga-z68ap-d3) and a £15 arctic cooling freezer 7 pro.

you neither need to buy a "gaming" or "extreme" motherboard or bother with expensive cooling. this is the mistake people getting into pc gaming make, you will gain absolutely 0 more performance by spending another £80 on a mobo unless you want to sli, or want the very best components to extensively overclock (usually the only people that do this are people who desperately work to get the highest score in the latest 3dmark.

so id save the money from the mobo and cooler and buy a 64gb ssd to run windows on.

btw you never said what RAM you were looking at.

any ddr3 1600+ would be good. 8 gigs is perfect.

As much as I love EVGA GPUs, save the money and get this instead-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125401

For the motherboard, I'd recommend this-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271 It's Z68 and ATX, which will be better for airflow.

And for the RAM, since I don't see any up there, I'll suggest this-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220558

And, as others have said, the 212+ for the cooler. It's cheaper and you'll be able to run the 2500k at 4.5-4.8ghz and your temps will stay under 60 degrees. No point in getting a liquid cooler.

Thank you both for the info. As far as the motherboard I was just looking at that Asrock so I will get that one. The reason I was looking at the EVGA card was because that one is superclocked and it seemed the best bang for my buck without going into the 6970/570 prices. I am glad you all pointed out about the cooler also because that will save some cash. Tomorrow I should be making the order.

Superclocked GPUs simply aren't worth the money. You literally pay 40 bucks to save 5 minutes of time since you can get a program like MSI Afterburner and overclock that card even higher yourself.

Noo, don't get it. Well to me, I wouldn't. I replaced my 212+ for an Antec Kuhler 620. It looks so much better instead of having a huge block of metal inside my case. Also the 212+ didn't let me install 1 side fan due to size, now I have it 2 instead of 1.

What's the difference in price and temps though?
