Here This is just an excellent mod for the original Far Cry. Just hard to believe this is Cry Engine 1 Check out the trailer and you'll be impressed. The dev team is working on another mod that promises tobe even greater.

Hmm. Game running on 2004 (or older engine) that looks better than a good amount of games today, AND it's a mod.
Damn.

Wait till you play the game.Just utter beauty is a I can say.:D
my question is how is the performance with it?
I get an average of 55fps on a e8400@3.0ghz, GTS 250@785c,2000s,2200m, 8gigs of PC6400 ram, Vista Ultimate64bit. It's quite smooth on this rig.

So with a phenom II at 3ghz, and 4gigs of ram, and 2 8800gt in SLI should have no problems reaching average 60fps maxed out at 1680x1050, even with a little AA on. Thats cool I might have to pick up far cry from gog.com and try out this mod then!

I forgot to post my resolution in my last post. I'm running @1600x1200@100hz smooth, so you should be good to go according to your posted specs. Get this mod man! I can't tell you how good this mod is. It's as polished as any AAA game I have ever played. You cannot tell it's a mod. The gunplay is spot on. Hit detection is perfect. I can go on and on........
Screenies
rush2428
wow, those do look pretty good for an older game, How does the mod work for this game, is it just a new skin for the game or is like the story and characters and world changed too?
This is looking nice, for like $5 or $9 dollars I could get farcry from GOG.com, then I can just download and install this mod, and I would have that game?!?
This is seeming very promising.
Ah I played this a couple of years ago. It's not as good as I thought it'd be judging by the screen shots.
I am personally enjoying the crap out of it. I have it on the hardest difficulty and it's a heck of a challenge. The AI is great and the setting just screams for tactical, stealth gameplay. The modder tweaked the AI's ability to detect you while hiding in shadows and in grass or lying down. The result is a much more realistic game than let's say........Crysis or Far Cry 2. I love it when the AI hides behind trees and pokes a shoulder out to see if you will give away your position.
This type of thing is nothing new though. Compare CoD 1 to CoD 2(which also runs MW2) Thats the same engine running both games. All you have to do is modify it to support modern techniques. Better yet, compare Darkplaces to Quake 2. both use the same base engine.Hmm. Game running on 2004 (or older engine) that looks better than a good amount of games today, AND it's a mod.
Damn.

Agreed. CryEngine 3 is just a modified version of two. MW2 runs on a souped of version of MW1 and so on, and so on...........

You missed the point. Mw2 is running on the ORIGINAL CoD engine, which is running on the Quake 3 engine, which is actually entirely based on the original quake code. That is how far back the MW2 engine goes. That aside, it is nice to see the modding community actually take time to do more than just use whats given code wise.
