Ikea galant's are usually popular.  If you don't mind glass tops, i've also seen the Z-line L shaped desk recommended a lot from staples

yes, galants are very popular and i was looking into them... though i don't think ikea ships to alaska.

on ikea's site when i use the calculate shipping it gives me this message: Currently, no delivery time information is available, please contact customer service/home shopping at

not really into glass mostly because the style of them tends to be not my taste. i can always paint the bottom of the glass if i found a good one though.

i've looked at every desk amazon prime offers because i know they will ship here and i didn't see anything good.

Check out Office Max. You can find some pretty decent desks there. Some of the styles they carry are kind of mix and match, you could create an "L" shaped desk. I was going to get something "L" shaped, but the wife had a moment of "I hate my husband" and wanted the furniture moved (which means I got to do it and she directed.....oh the fun I had that day). I ended up getting a normal desk, has room 3 24" monitors to go side by side by side on it. Though I'm currently using 2 22" screens right now.

Just make sure your desk is low enough for the maximum height extension of your chair. I hate keyboard trays because they're never wide enough. It's better to have keyboard and mouse/mousepad on the desktop. Hopefully your monitor stand isn't too short.

You should build your PC inside the desk

Lol. Wow must have been a major haul. Reminds me when I had to remove my door when moving my giant double-door fridge.

I've been perusing around looking for one as well. It really all depends on what your style is and what kind of functionality you want/need. Take a look at the links below to get an idea of what you want then try to find it. I'm personally eyeing something simple like the 8th setup in the first link.

Office surplus stuff can net you some neat finds - either through the company themselves or through a store that sells used office furniture. Many of those desks are sturdy as hell and reasonably priced (they also tend to not come apart making a large vehicle and wide doorways a must). I've grown quite fond of my old desk that was originally built for a computer and dot matrix printer.

Can't believe some of them have spent like $2k on monitors but $30 on speakers.

It's so true. Speakers seem to be the PSU of the peripheral world; the most overlooked but important part...
