As my laptop is nearly completely broken now I was thinking about getting a new one but I not a very computer technical person so maybe you guys can help. Most laptops I look at seem to be better than the desktop pc's so are laptops better now. I have a budget of about £200-400 to spend on my new computer. It would be maily used for internet, photoshop, schoolwork etc so that dosen't take alot of money but for £400 would it be possilble to get a PC that I don't have to build myself to play a few games like Spore, Viva Pinata and football manager 2009 without any lag. If I can't then I'll just get a cheaper system in the £200-£300 range and buy an xbox 360 again.

Thanks for any help.

For the usage pattern you listed a laptop should do you just fine. Make sure it has got either an nVidia or ATi chip in it though and not just the Intel integrated one.

And best to make sure it's a dedicated Nvidia/Ati chip for that matter.

Unless you need to move it around a lot get a desktop because they can be repaired a lot easier!
