I was curious as to how many of you have your PC hooked up to your HDTV instead of the traditional monitor? Are there any potential hazards with running this type of connection as far as the TV goes?

Well... if the TV is prone to burn-in then you probably shouldn't use it for a desktop. If you do, turn down the brightness.

The only hazard I could think of would be burn in on a plasma. (very bright, static toolbars)

But even that would only be a problem if you left it on for hours at a time doing nothing. Simply turning off the tv when not in use, or when using for extended period, minimizing static toolbars would fix that problem.

I personally don't have mine hooked up to a HDTV, I've got an Eyefinity setup instead.

You won't have that problem with a LCD or a LED. Just older plasma displays had problems with burn-in and even the newer models have had that fixed. I have mine through a 46" LCD and have no problems whatsoever. Except for big screen gaming awesomeness! Sorry... :)

I don't have any issues with my HDTV, but I only use it for gaming for a few hours at a time...and switch off the PC when I'm done.

I have my son's hooked up to his 46in Sony Bravia LCD and it's been fine for a while. My other son's is hooked up to his 32in Samsung LCD, also with no issues. I think it may put more strain on the graphics card but not sure.

I did when I first built my PC. Man did i hate it. I found it really awkward to use a KB/M with my TV and for whatever reason, it wouldn't display in 720P (the resolution of my TV). I had to use some weird one that I configured in the NVIDIA Control Panel

I stream all the content I'd like from my computer to my HDTV through either my ps3 or WD TV.

Got a dedicated HTPC, for that. Trying to use a big TV for conventional PC work and gaming, would drive me up the wall.

Yeah, that's a great feature, and never gets old. It's still shocks me how many people are unfamiliar with that option. I usually stream everything through my media center to my 360, but lately I've been using the PC, which is hooked directly to the 55in LED via HDMI.

I'm currently using a 24" 1080p HDTV as a PC monitor in my den. No problems.

I'm using a 32in flat screen and I have had no problem with it so far. I would like a monitor, but sadly I dont have a desk or anything to put it on.

I'm using my 42 inch Sanyo 720p LCD HDTV as a screen. We don't have cable, so my computer and PS3 are connected to it. No problems so far. Been using it like this for almost a year.

I have my rig hooked up via HDMI to my Panny Viera 50".

I absolutely love it, BF3 is awesome. My TV has burn protection so i dont worry too much I just make sure the screen saver comes on after 1 minute. :)

I have my rig hooked up to a 42" 1080p lcd. It works great. I've had it this way for probably 3 years. I love it. I find it really hard to go back to a monitor. I have a 23" monitor that just sits in the corner because it seems so small to use now. As long as it's LCD there wont be any burn-in issues.

I don't use my TV as a dedicated monitor, but I do stream media to it whenever I feel like watching a movie/tv show from the couch.

My 55in LED is fast enough, although not at the 600mhz refresh rate that plasmas offer, but still fast enough, with a fantastic picture.
