Anyone tried recently going to www.deusex3.com? You are greeted by a username/password combination in order to attempt to enter the site! Could this mean that a site is in the works for my beloved franchise?

Calling all the Russian hackers! This is not a drill. I want that baby cracked and I want it cracked now!  But seriously I don't mind waiting a few more months to hear any news. It is an exciting time! :rubs hands: I always believed in you Deus Ex 3.

The only question now is who's developing it? What's the storyline? Why the secracy? I'm gonna start contacting major gaming networks. Maybe Gameinformer will know something soon. Is Spector behind this. Hmm too much conspiracy going on here.

:throws on JC Denton costume and jumps on the first flight to Texas: Cab driver take me to Junction Point Studios and I wanna go now! :D

JC Denton from Deus Ex!

please please PLEASE DONT screw it up like you did with Deus Ex 2!

We dont want next-gen graphics, multiplatform bullsh**, we just want a worthy sequal to one of the greatest PC games of all time!  Comples leveling system, thorough inventory, tons of dialog and NPC interation, dozens of weapons and varying ammo types (minicrossbow FTW!), and an awesome story set in a Film Noir-type futuristic setting

Well i'm not working on it but if I was it would be far from a screw. It would be game of the year quality. Thirdly before deusex3.com would just take you to the eidos main site. Now though it dosen't. Which can only mean one thing. Something is gonig on! :D

Sounds like whether or not Eidos owns the Deus Ex name is in question.  Thats good news for us, it means someone wants to keep the name so they can do something with it.

The domain is registered to eidos, so it appears legitimate. Perhaps it's going to be a part of some promotional ARG where the username/pass will be revealed.

If Spector himself couldn't produce a worthy sequel, I don't think we should expect much from Eidos. Fashionable solution - toss it to Obsidian and let them make an unspectacular but decent game out of it.

Wow wow slow down. Spector was not the project lead for Deus Ex: Invisible War, it was Harvey Smith. Harvey could not handle the personnel and made bad design decisions. Warren Spector was studio director. He was only helping Harvey but Harvey was in charge of many major decisions. If you're gonna blame someone, blame him. We don't knwo who is working on the game. My best guess would be Crystal Dynamics. I would welcome them because they have a solid track record for making above average games. Another possibility is Junction Point which is the new studio Warren Spector opened up in Texas. That's a very far away possibility though. It would totally rule if I/O Interactive was working on Deus Ex 3. The makers of Hitman combined with Deus Ex = something different/exciting. This is all speculation though. Nobody get their hopes up :)!

personally, i don't like deus ex - i acknowledge it as a great game, but it just didn't work for me

and the sequel, well... you know the rest

but i'd still welcome a deus ex 3 - if it is in development (companies register hundreds of domains and copyright countless names - you can check a lot of them online (i used to do it when checking for everquest expansions way back)) - but many - most - go unused, it's just covering their bases, if they wanna go ahead and make the game at some point, they want the web address and the copyright without having to pay for it... so, this could be conclusive evidence of a third game

or it could be nothing

personally, i expect another deus ex 2 if the game is made - i'm not sure if i'd rather it be made and be bad than it not be made at all and lose the chance of it being good... uh... yeah

I always thought that a prequel for this game would be nice. If it would let you play as Paul and see how things happened.

IO could totally take this franchise and mold it into something amazing, perhaps even better than the original (gasp!).

Hitman: Blood Money should have been GOTY in my opinion; it was so different and refreshng, but alas it wasnt as popular as other games.

Has Crystal Dynamics released any games yet, or have they just formed recently?

I think Crystal Dynamics made some of the Gex games, along with Tombraider Legend. I know they have more games under their belt, but I don't know which ones. Also, I agree, IO would be a developer suited to making a Deus Ex sequel. The company has a knack for making games where you have to think a little, or plan a lot (Hitman), along with a neat sleeper hit here and there (Freedom Fighters). I think that it would work. Although, I hope that Deus Ex 3, if made, is long; not necessarily as long as the original, but has some length like the original.

Yeah okay. The game flops - Spector has nothing to do with it. Blame Harvey Smith. Game's awesome - Warren Spector has created another masterpiece! Fine. I don't really care who to blame. I agree that IO might not be a bad choice for the sequel, but I wouldn't expect it any time soon. I think it'll come out about the same time as Max Payne 3.

The site has been around since *at least* November 2004 - so don't get your hopes up.

Having said that, if they have been recently changing their site, then something could be up...

No chance imho, just a website mistake if you ask me. Firstly how many developers are competent enough to complete such an ambitious project? Hmm I can count them on one hand and 1 of them doesn't exist anymore. I'll just hold out for warren and he's next game which I think will be similar to deus ex.

Now guys there IS a slight chance this might not be bogus. Did you read the headlines on Gamespot and Eurogamer the last few days? There IS something going on with Spector.

I know he's not supposed to own the Deus Ex franchise anymore or something, but think of it: a Hollywood project with Spector involved? In a sense it BEGS to be a Deux Ex 3 with a movie tie-in. And I don't think Spector would want to work with Uwe Boll.

I'm getting all worked up based on thin air here. But boy this could be good.

First off their is no web site www.Deusex3.com. I put in that address and it brought up zilch, nadda. There was nothing there. Secondly Spector said after their last spectacular entry into the Deus Ex franchise, that he would have to think on it if asked to do another one. Not that he was against it, just very hesitant. Thirdly a movie deal has been up in the air for over 1 1/2 to 2 years already. Supposedly they had the director from spider man agreed on to do it, but that was over a year ago that they said that, so who knows what's going on. Hell I'ld love it if they just redid the game with the new Crytek engine, keeping the original gameplay just the way it was. Maybe enhansing the AI a bit, but otherwise just making it graphically kick ass. I could live with that.

I had thought EA owned the rights to Deus Ex now but a quick google check showed Eidos is still holding onto it. Anyway, I'd love to see a nextgen Deus Ex taken to the next level (in the direct opposite direction of part 2).. But frankly I don't have much hope in Eidos ability to make it worthwhile.. What was their last game anyway? Thief 3? If it does happen I hope they make it like the original design idea that Spector outlined years ago before Deus Ex 1 released. Its basically the game we all know and loved except it took place in a huge living city where almost all the buildings were enter-able, all the people followed their daily lives, and everything you could think of was interactive. Very ambitious for even today, so you can see why they abandoned that quickly. We need a futuristic cyberpunk Oblivion-ish shooter/rpg peoples. For reals.

Ya, it was a fun free flowing game if you enjoy sequals where they rip the balls off of the gameplay mechanics of the first game and give it a huge dose of morphine so that its dumb/easy enough for a 10 year old console player can play. And the story?  Freakin horrible there was not a single memorable character in the sequal.

Call me crazy, but I think that sequals should be about 80% or higher of the quality of their predecessor, and Deus Ex 2 failed miserably, about a 60% at the highest.  I guess this is how The Elder Scrolls fans feel when comparing TES 1-3 to TES 4.  Am I wrong?
