I'm trying to figure out if it's worth using DX11 in HR, or if I should just turn it off. I mean, the game doesn't really look that good, so I doubt a little change in lighting and tesselation will change that.

That being said, I have no problem running either, although it would be better to get a higher frame rate for my upcoming recording of me playing the game, non-lethally.

DX11, I thought the game was average looking at the start but once you reach China the game starts to look a lot better and feels more alive. Great game bad graphics or not.

I tried playing using Dx11 with my GTX 580, the game would freeze-up sometime. Switched to Dx9 and all the problems went away. Maybe it's me or maybe it needs a nvidia patch idk.

DX9 runs so poorly for me. I just use DX11. It's the same with Bad Company 2.

DX 11 is a faster renderer. It should give you better performance. If a particular feature slows you down, you cna turn that off sperately.

Always use the faster renderer! DX9 is never faster.

I just don't understand how people can say this game looks bad. Some of the textures may not be quite up to snuff, but I was consistently impressed with the visuals. Especially the art direction, but I wasn't disappointed in any way by the visuals really.

The game looks pretty dated in the screenshots, but when you're actually play it, it looks pretty good. At least that's what I think. Either way, it has an amazing art style that carries the atmosphere without a hitch. Technically impressive graphics aren't everything.

I didn't think DX11 was a big deal for this game until I turned it off and realized the difference. Just stand in the Detroit streets, turn off DX11, restart and then see how it looks.

There's also tons of volumetric fog.. a little too much at times, but it is still nice.

I'm playing with DX11, it looks pretty good to me, but I've never been that fan of graphics. The gameplay is what makes it worth it and here Deus Ex excelled. If you've got any problems, go for DX9.

Is there even any noticeable difference between the 2 visually? I can't seem to find any site with DX11 vs DX9 screen shots so I'm guessing DX11 is really nothing special at all.

My card is a few years old, so it doesn't support DX11. But I have most everything that I want maxed out and it has been peforming well. The load times aren't even as bad as I heard about earlier.

Definitely could have used better graphics, but the game is awesome, so it doesn't really matter to me. Looks better than the originals, that's all I care about.

Well, they did cut the load times in half with a patch.

Difference between DX 9 and DX 11 in Deus Ex: HR IS minimal.

It should improve performance (assuming same settings as DX9), improve the quality of some of the ligting/shadowing techniques (at a slight performance cost), and use very light tessellation on character models.

That's really where I notice it more visually, at least.

We are so used to seeing people wearing polygonal clothes. the collars, the contorus of the face, the hair, and a few objects in the environment all feature much more realistic, rounded shapes.

I have a gtx 580 but I have to use dx9 because there's a driver or card issue that causes crashing with dx11. It makes me...angry.

dx11. The games technical proficiency isn't outstanding, the engine is okay, but the games visual aesthetic is fantastic.

I have a EVGA GTX 580 SC, I found you can fix the freezing issue by upping the cards voltage from 1V to 1.05V. I used MSI Afterburner to do it. It's something to do with DX11 and the cards voltage being tested properly with the latest DX11 features. Same thing happens for me in Fear 3 and Dirt 3.

dx9 ...

but that doesn"T matter cuz Boris from the enb-series is allready working on a mod for dx9 that blows vanilla DE HR in dx11 out of the water.

Ok this makes sense, same thing happend to me in Crysis 2 Dx11, but his might have been to an Oc (barely, like 20Mhz higher than stock). I just upped to my Vcore to 1.075 and no more crashes. The increase in voltage was to accomodate a 128Mhz increase in the Core, currently at 900Mhz.
