I actually had this game for xmas but I started playing it today. Anyway, Im getting horrendious stuttering which is making the game almost unplayable. It seems to occur when I enter a room, or just if I turn around. This is really annoying since I should be able to play this game without problems right. Specs are in sig but il list the key ones here

AMD Phenom X4 3.7GHz

4GB RAM

GTX570 using 290.36 drivers

Windows 7 X64

This is pretty bad for a game that looks 10 years old.

you think HR looks 10 yrs old? true the game relies on its overuse of yellow hues but i think that the game looks pretty damned good. anyway have you tried turning vsync off?

Yeah, something similar is happening to me too (although it's not unplayable). When I played it last year when the game was released, it ran beautifully on maxed settings. Then a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to play it a 2nd time, and noticed straight away some stuttering (espercially when turning). I have a GTX 580, i5 2400 & 8GB RAM.

I tried turning down the settings, which helped, but I shouldn't have to. The only thing I think that it can be is something to do with the nVidia Beta drivers I'm using. What else could it be?!?!

Someone posted a "fix" for the stutter on the Eidos forums which is supposed to reduce it,I haven't got the game so apologies if you've seen or tried this.

I also get stutters. I downloaded it off of Amazon and must not have gotten some update?

I go into Library, right click "DX:HR" go to Properties click Local Files, then Defragment Cashe files.

After that's done I click verify integrity of game cashe. I did both of these steps about 4-5x, eventually it stopped being so noticeable. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Playing in window mode helps too.

The stuttering is the reason why I didn't enjoy the game that much when I played it back when it was erleased. And if running in windows mode is the way to fix it, I must say the developer has failed. I was wondering if there's already a patch out to fix it, well I guess not.

Join the club.

Not sure which is worse, the game's looks or how it runs.

So I lowered the AA AF and lowered SSAO down to medium, it seems to have improved things although there is still minor stuttering at times but not as bad. I shouldnt have had to do that though but there you go. At least the game itself is pretty good.

Revert back to an older driver.. 290 beta has been a pain the ass for a lot of people. For me, it crashes my pc and only way to recover is a reset.

i also tried that but it was still horrible! just verify integrity and defragment cache files after that itll download an update which should run about 80% better

I have zero problem with this game with Nvidia's 285.62 drivers. Have you tried going back to an older driver?
