So it does seem like these three games will be battling it out for the spot of 'Best RPG of the year' and maybe even 'Game of the year'. So even though TES: Skyim is not out and cannot be judged, which game do you feel will take the spot? Which of the three games, to you, seems to be better? Skyrim will be the least linear and is the more fantasy mountains ect setting, whereas Deus Ex is all set in a futuristic city but is also not very linear and has a nice story and The Witcher 2 is a fantasy setting with a great story and good thrid person combat. Skyrim seems to have the most replayability and exploration but TW2 seemed to have the best story and Deus Ex seemed to deliver to the DX fans. So, in your opinion, which game will win RPG of the year?

BTW I like the idea of travel anywhere in Skyrim and I am enjoying Deus Ex 3, I havn't got around to playing TW2 as my PC is pretty low quality at the moment. So my vote goes to either Skyim or Deus Ex 3.

It's a bit early to say what Skyrim will be like or how good it'll be. Out of those, I think The Witcher 2 is most worthy, but I put Portal 2 even ahead of that for GOTY.

I think TW2 and DE:HR are gonna have one huge battle between them. Skyrim won't have a chance in hell unless reviewers and casuals eat it up again just like they did with Oblivion, which they might.

For GOTY though? Battlefield 3 = The Witcher 2 = Deus Ex Human Revolution > Rage=Skyward Sword. That's how I think it's gonna turn out.

I'm expecting Skyrim to be nothing more than Oblivion 2, so I don't see it being GOTY material. I'd say the real competition is going to be between Witcher 2 and DXHR, and it's a tough call between the two but I think DXHR wins out. It's pretty much everything the original Deus Ex was and more. The only reason I don't think it will get GOTY is because these days GOTY usually goes to whatever game was the most popular that year, which usually means GOTY only goes to online FPS games like COD or BF.

I think Deus Ex is labeled under Action Adventure, dunno.

Think Skyrim will win. Gamespot staff is deciding. Most of them aren't even PC gamers, but they've all heard of Skyrim.

I'd have to go with Skyrim though I can't really say for usre since I have not played it. TES titles are usually in a league far far ahead of anything that comes out the same year.

Yeah, in my mind Deus Ex HR and Witcher 2 aren't even competing in the same league as Skyrim. Cute contenders in the minor leagues that do well for what they are... Skyrim pats them on the head on its way to the award ceremony, and they feel gratified to earn its brief attention.

Skyrim is going to win...because well... people adored Oblivion. I'm not one of them although I thought it was a solid game with mods. My vote goes to Deus Ex Human Revolution. There's too much to love about it.

Think it'll definitely be between Skyrim and the Witcher 2. Only thing is story is a pretty important factor for rpgs so unless Skyrim's is a significant improvement over the other games in the series (plus it needs to have solid fight mechanics) I think Witcher 2 will win hands down. Size alone ain't gonna win it for them. As for Deus Ex HR - it spreads across multiple genres so it's hard to put one's finger on - but I doubt it will steal the spotlight from these other games for rpg of the year.

One really cat judge atm its not a fair contest..Skyrim is not even out yet. They make it sound lke th next best thng.Only time will tell how good this elder scrolls title is..One person said it sounds like oblivion 2.0..Not realy true..Cookin is now in the game thats just awesome..Potions will take a bigger roll even though i liked oblivions form and how it did potions..Killing dragons looks great and who doesnt want to do that..At least im not forced to go into a oblivion tower...Never even bothered with the main story..

Now witcher 2 had a blast when i played..One of them games i didnt want to end..It had some hard boss mobs..Challenge to say the least..Had a fun time with this goty worth game..Im also lookin forward to the witcher 3..Hopefully there next ip is as good as this game has been..Graphically it sets the bar for this gen im not even a big graphics ho..Like some of you younger posters..To me a title needs game-play over graphics..This title had all the above which makes it a goty contender..Story wise was interesting..

Deus x man so far what i played, its been great..Love the augmentations in the game..Story graphics like the witcher 2 you cant go wrong..Its been challenging at times..Ive had fun with this title also this year..Been a fun year and its not over yet..Loving every minute of it..The season just started..Next up i believe is rage..Perhaps battlefield 3..Only time will tell..

Who will be goty its to early to tell to many games yet to come out..

I'm sure Skyrim will win for obvious reasons, but don't forget about Dark Souls simply because it's not on PC. It's predecessor did take Gamespot's GOTY in 2009. But for me personally it's Human Revolution, hand's down.

Well calling Deus Ex 3 an RPG is a bit of a stretch. Arguments can be made both ways very easily like with Mass Effect 2. For the sake of argument I'll say it isn't because of my opinion on Skyrim.Overall I thought Deus Ex 3 was the better package as a whole and stands next to the original which says something.

The Witcher 2 sort of wins by default in terms of RPGs. Good game but it had pacing issues and scope issues because it was obviously setting up instead of delivering.

I'm fully expecting Skyrim to be an action adventure with RPG elements. The game itself will probably be average-good and get dramatically better after modders get used to the tools and start making awesome mods. Vanilla won't stand next to the other 2 though, there is no question about that.

So in short I'm thinking Deus Ex 3 will be getting it from gamers. Skyrim is going to be getting it from Gamespot and a bunch of other publications, because of the brand name.

Not sure. IF we go by RPG then The Witcher 2 is the most likely, since it is the game sofar that looks and playsmost like an RPG, Deus Ex 3 reminds me alot of VTM:B which is a good thing, butfor me it is a better stealth/action game then it is an RPG.

And Skyrim, while I do not doubt it will be good, seems less like an RPG then Oblivion did, and I did not consider Oblivion to be nowhere near an RPG.

Good games allaround, but from that list, only The Witcher is a real RPG in my eyes.

But if we REALLY bend the meaning of RPG, then when all 3 are lumped together, I still guess The WItcher my most gamers, Skyrim by most outlets, and Dark souls as the dark horse (hardy har har)

A hard decision between DE:HR and The Witcher 2. One game allows freedom of accomplishment, the other allows freedom of story dictation.

yeah, its unfortunate. i wish their staff was more balanced.

Also, the Witcher 2 is probably the going to be the best. its pretty effing stellar. Skyrim is gonna be good (i hope) but Witcher 2 is world class in every way.

Pretty sure Skyrim's not out yet so I won't vote.
