So I am contemplating pre-ordering Deus Ex... I have never played any Deus Ex game before so I don't know what past games were like story and length wise so I was just curious if any reviews have stated how long the game is or if any of you know what to expect length wise?

Thanks

My last playthrough was 36 hours according to steam, but I guess I was kind of taking my sweet time about it.

I'm currently playing Deus Ex (which is fantastic btw), everything I've heard about the second one is extremely negative. Even makers agreed that it wasn't a worthy sequel. Judging by all the hate for Deus Ex 2, I'm guessing they aren't going to make a huge story connection between Deus Ex 2 and Deus EX 3. Is this safe to assume or should I play Deus Ex 2 as well for story purposes?

It's a long game, I think it has 16 levels.

Worth every minute you play it.

I've played DXIW several times. It is a good game. Not as good as the first one, but still worth playing.

Yeah, I think the gameplay was generally better in 1, but I did enjoy some of the choices in the game.. I liked the characters and the way they tied the story from DX1 to the new one and then wrapped it up. I wasn't disappointed by the game.

Do you think they'll make significant connection between the IW and HR?

Do you guys understand that HR is a prequel to the original Deus Ex?

It makes my PC pur. That's about it.

It lacks graphics options. DX11 and Shadows is about as far as it goes.

The reccomended requirements are a quad core and a 5850, it uses dx11 for a few things including character tessellation.

My Quad i5 and GTX460 handled it pretty well.

I predict it will be around 15-25 hours. But it sounds like its got a lot of replay value though, with all the different ways to tackle missions and such.

Developers say anywhere from 25-40 hours depends on how much side stuff you do, explore, you know.

Just a note: All preview gameplay length data is based on the Review/Preview build which ends after completing the first hub of Detroit. That is only ~1/4 to 1/3 of the games total content [if not less]. So, if it takes people an average of 20 hours to complete just the preview build, you can at least double it [to be pessimistic] to come up with a general idea of how long the game will be. There will, of course, be people who don't bother looking around for secondary missions and get through it faster [and then complain that it wasn't long enough to be worth its price].

So... you played an entire, unreleased game. From start to finish in 25 hours. I re-iterate. Good for you. How many side missions did you do?

Edit: Also - since the game is not officially released the only method of obtaining it would be via unauthorized means. Pretty sure GameSpot doesn't condone those unauthorized means.

Yeah and I assume people who review games early also use unauthorized means...

Knowing people in gaming companies can be handy at times.

Indeed it can be handy. My uncle works at Codemasters, and I get free codemasters games whenever they release - As promotional copies. If you know someone in the company, then they risk their job by giving the game to you early, so I doubt what you are saying is true. And I know your going to reply with something like 'Your jealous' or something along those lines, so I'm guessing your trolling. Anyway, I've read it is 25-40 hours, depending on side quests and exploration. I'm sure there will be a lot of secrets as well, and also the fact that you can't buy every augmentation in one playthrough guarentees multiple playthroughs - So your getting your moneys worth :)

I'm hopping for 30-40 hours. If not, will probably rent it. It's the type of games/atmosphere I love but from majority of previews it sounded more like shooter and not much of an RPG.

Now, different people have different perspectives on what RPG consist off. In my case, I need to see more of the game to shell out money on it. I enjoy longer RPG's. 15-20 hours isn't worth my money. That belongs to rent section. ;)

around 30 hours one of the devs said in a video. Could be a little more or a little less depending on the player.

I'll let the developer answer that one :)
