Hello guys.

I just finished playing Deus Ex Human Revolution (on "Give me Deus Ex!" difficulty, yay), and I was wondering what others stealth games are there? My criterias are: being able to use cover, and (maybe) upgrades. First thing that pops in mind is the MGS series, but I've finished playing it all. I also finished playing Splinter Cell Conviction. So what other stealth games do you guys know? (Similar to those above)

I've tried Alpha Protocol. It feels... wierd. Think I'm gonna give it another try. Any other suggestions?

Check out Alpha Protocol, EYE: Divine Cybermancy, Vampire Bloodlines, Hitman and the Thief series, for starters. Alpha Protocol is the only one of those with a cover system, but meh, they're all great stealth-focused RPGs/stealth games.

I can't recall any other game that uses any stealth with an auto-cover system similar to HR besides Splinter Cell Conviction, which you already played. Oh, maybe Batman Arkham Asylum? MGS4, but that is not on PC. Or Uncharted 2, also not on PC. I say "auto-cover" system because other stealth games have let you use cover by doing it the old fashioned way, by crouching without sticking to walls. Like Thief or Hitman.

Vampire the masquerade is no doubt an awesome game but mind you it has issues with win7 / vista. Very few folks have been able to run it on this gen systems so be warned.

Alpha protocol is a great game underatted when it launched..Ran great on my system very few bugs..It has addicting game-play..Reminds me of james bond typish game..Its a rpg so if you go and do play it..Remember your guns will suck at first, and improve when you put points into it..People cried oh the guns system is broke..No its how the game was made to be a rpg/shooter some thing like mass effect series..Only some times i think its better..Wish they had a shot to do a second one..Shame it flopped in sales..

The latest unofficial patches fix it's compatability problems with Windows 7. I run it absolutely perfectly on Windows 7 64bit after applying them.

Again, I played the majority of the games you guys mentioned. Alpha Protocol though... makes me think seriously about playing it from the start to the end. Is it possible to accomplish missions without being spotted, for example, like in HR?

I haven't really tried to. Apart from the boss fights though, I don't see why not. Although there are events were you can't avoid a firefight, but that's scripted.

If you want to play a challenging stealth game, try one of the Death to Spies.

My criterias are: being able to use cover

de7con

Well then you're not going to find many games similar to Deus Ex this side of Alpha Protocol to be honest.

Get rid of the criteria and you have genuine choice.

i really dont know many stealth-oriented shooters, but i'll just throw out random games and hopefully you enjoy at least one of them. crysis very loosely fits your criteria with the whole somewhat of an upgrade system by finding scopes, ammo, other attachments. not really an upgrade system, but its at least something. and you can use stealth to get through almost all of the game, aside from a certain few parts. crysis 2 literally has an upgrade system, but the gameplay itself promotes the whole bro gamer run 'n gun type of thing, with SOME room for great stealth action. there is one level in particular that you can stealth almost all the way through. but thats pretty much it. STALKER games kinda have stealth. modded stalker games have even better stealth. there's no real intricate stealth moments like all that infiltration and such in deus ex, rather, its a pretty shallow stealth system. i will actually list a console exclusive here, because it fits the bill quite nicely aside from the upgrade part. perfect dark zero has quite a bit of stealth, while not being as intricate, compelling, or intense as deus ex, it still is bearable. the game is set in the 2020s, just like deus ex, and features that entire cyberpunk theme. the characters look like plastic and the story isn't top notch, but it does feature cover almost identical to deus ex's. and while im grasping at straws, manhunt. and thats my non-conventional list of stealth shooters that don't feature stealth as a main component of gameplay, aside from manhunt.

Finished Crysis (all three of them, including Warhead), not a big fan of STALKER, and I own just a PC, so I cannot play console games (if I could, I would get MGS4), and I finished both Manhunts long time ago. Gonna start Alpha Protocol once again, I guess...

lol you've played every game! I'd suggest checking out mods for games instead. I'm sure there is a fun stealth mod out there for something!

Alpha Protocol is better than Human Revolution.

Those modern Rainbow Six games have similar cover, not sure how stealthy they are though. In the near future, Ghost Recon: Invisible Soldier or whatever it's called has it.

Thief is the flagship title of the genre, hands down. The visuals are on the surface very outdated, but in no way does that hinder the atmosphere or mood of the game. The art direction is very effective. Thief 1 and 2 feature some of the best level design I've seen in any game. Don't believe me? Read the reviews.

what about far cry? and the riddick games are great as well, as the above user mentioned.
