Freaking amazing. Runs superbly and looks phenomenal. It's a bummer the demo is 10 minutes with an additional boss fight. I also hope Capcom can maybe add mouse support if not then hello mods. As a long time DMC fan I was really impressed, defiantly a buy for me come July.

Hmm. I have not played this game before but some people like yourself mysterious sir, have a rap on it.

Though why they wouldn't include mouse support really is a mystery.

I dont see really why Capcom will not include. I had no trouble at all though with keyboard controls and quite frankly learn them quite quickly.

This is one of the best ports I have seen from Capcom and if they can continue this quality then I will support them.

What i have to say about the demo-----

It runs realy well on High(200 FPS 768x1024) and runs good on Super High(60 FPS)....it can run on old PCs

The game itself is also realy good....but i didnt like the controlls...

I found the Devil Bringer a bit too hard to use but i think ill get use to it. The only problem is that you have only 10 min :P

I just finished running the benchmarks and I was amazed on how optimized the game is. I was averaging around 80 FPS on high settings 1280x720 resolution DX10. I'm gonna play the demo now.

The Boss battle with the flaming horse looking guy was marvelous. Eager to turn up the difficulty settings in the full game to have a blast with him.

The Performance test by the way shows a scene with Dante taking the boss on utilizing the demon powers and cool weapons.

This truly does live up to the rumors.

CAPCOM makes the best inhouse versions, ever. Devil May Cry 4 on PC is right at the top with Lost Planet, the last inhouse ported game for PC.

People can argue ( well, the smarter ones at least ), that CAPCOM was just lucky to make the game on MT Framework so it was easy to make a PC version. In some way, they may be right, but it still doesn't take any shine away from CAPCOM.

Also, anyone who calls DMC4 PC a port, should go to Wikipedia, read the first few paragraphs about DMC4, and then DIE, for being idiots.

Oh yeah and i noticed camera controls! Excellent idea to solve the dodgy fixed cameras!

Benchmark? Best. EVER. I wasn't expecting my PC to get a style rank. Awesomesauce.
Engine capabilities? Through the roof. CAPCOM wasn't kidding then they said the extra LDK mode would be insane. It really CAN fill the whole area with monsters.
Playability? Even a workstation at work can play this thing. 640x480 to 1600x1200 resolutions. For the weak, and all the way up to the king sizes. Devil May Cry has never tasted so good.

I will be waiting for the full version!

Very optimized and welldone for a Capcom title, im very pleased on how everything worked out in the end and im going to buy it. Just the controls are a little wonky but thats ok with the 360 controller.

You need to install it on C, because for me, it took 1.6gb on C and 700+ from the place I installed it.

:) First time I actually found my gamepad useful and the games is soo good, even better than Mass Effect.

I have this game in my wish list since October! And now i played the demo.OK to begin with there are some things that go to pairs. For example for every car there are the wheels. For every man there is a woman(or more!).For every dog there is a cat.People in CAPCOM seem that they haven't understand that with every PC there is a mouse...!!Do i have to play with my ten fingers on a keybord so i can press 10 different buttons??And if i wanted to play with a gamepad well.. i would have bought a console instead of a 2,000 **** dollars PC.See the difference??Consoles=gamepad.PC=mouse.I don't like consoles=I want to be able to play with a mouse. It's just not worth it.Furthermore the resolution options are up to 1360*768.WTF?i have a native 1440*900 and in order to play it i have to move down to 1280*800 but that's not a big deal because i chose high AA since it runs smoothly. But without mouse support it's just not worth it.

The resolution options are up to.....1680x1050, because that is the highest resolution supported by my monitor......WTF .

Yeah it is complicated on the keyboard, but the mouse would have ruined it. With the gamepad it's awesome and pretty simple :).

I just have to ask..

..Are you people idiots?

Devil May Cry has been, and always will be, a console oriented game. With console games come arcade controlling.

How in the WORLD do you expect to be able to use a mouse while fixed cameras and the current control scheme is in place? Adding mouse support would either suck donkey dong, or the game's control would have to be largely reworked to support a more MMO styled control system ( UP is for FORWARD, RIGHT is for turning RIGHT ), which is not DMC-like, AT ALL.

Think about it before you go bashing CAPCOM and thinking they don't care or can't be bothered, and just get a gamepad instead of whining about having no mouse support.

logokas

But imagine if you did have mouse support!

You could turn the camera anyway you wanted with the flick of your wrist!

Or cycle through weapons using the wheel!

Or what about the clicking motion! Imagine the satisfaction as you draw out your sword and click fiercely onto the mouse buttons as your characters inserts the sword into his enemies!!

The possiblities of this device are endless!! :D

When a game is on the PC, I expect it to play like a PC game.

You wouldn't need an MMO camera system, the mouse works perfectly fine with fixed third-person cameras.

just get a gamepad

logokas

No. If I wanted to play with a controller, I wouldn't be a PC gamer.

The demo has far exceeded my expectations in every way, gameplay, graphics, smoothness, and even the controls for keyboard. Yes there is no mouse support but the current controls are fine without it - I know it sounds asine but you'll just have to play it and see for yourself.

I can now easily forgive Capcom for their past crappy pc ports because they've really put a lot of good work into this one. It feels like a great pc game through and through. I hope more console developers follow their lead.

Have you played DMC3?There were loads of puzzles and lodes of great boss fights.DMC4 will be no diffrent. DMC4 is great and just like DMC3 it controls great even with only the keyboard and it's fantasticaly optimized.I am starting to LOVE Capcom for their continued PC support which will continue with Bionic Commando and Dark Void etc etc.

Yeah I think all got your point already and most of the people should get it that it is console oriented (duh it's a console port?). + The game is awesome with the gamepad but do you really have to start calling people names just to make your point?

You made 4 posts so far, but 4 posts of insults :|.

[QUOTE="MojondeVACA"]DMC4 is not a port, the ports are the console versions MT Framework is more a PC engine than console engine..biltros

Wow.First time in my life i see the ports come out first and the original-platform game come out 5 months later...

what he meant was that the pc was the lead platform.... it was developed on pc... isntead of being developed on a console ..then pc getting a crappy port...

Originally posted at Gamasutra:
"We started developing this on the PC on the MT Framework -- the internal Capcom engine. The PS3 specs were not finalized at that stage when we started developing it, so we did start to develop it on the PC.

By developing it on the PC, it's very easy for us to work with the graphics and the gameplay, and see how the game is going to play. Actually, we're still continuing to develop it on the PC, as well as being able to check how it runs on the 360 and the PS3."

The producer went on to discuss exactly how the change, particularly to the Xbox 360, ended up affecting development of the title:

"In terms of any problems or any effect it had in the development of the game, we initially didn't have a schedule for releasing it on two platforms simultaneously, so that did have an affect on the amount of work that we had to do.

Because we developed it on the same engine -- on the MT Framework -- it wasn't double the work that we had to do, but it probably required about 1.5 times the work and 1.5 times the ability in order to be able to get everything done. There were some changes we had to make, and some extra work that we had to put into it."

Finally, with simultaneous development on multiple consoles still relatively rare in Japan, Kobayashi discussed the mindset change inherent in doing things this way round, as opposed to converting a lead SKU at a later date:

"As I mentioned before, it does take probably 1.5 times more work than it did before. One of the things that takes up the most time in developing simultaneously on different platforms is that before, we would develop it just for the PS2, and would check it running on the PS2 and make sure that everything's okay.

Now, even though we have the MT Framework in place, we still have to check the actual game that the customers are going to play and are going to have in their hands, so that means checking and going through not just the PS3 version, but the 360 and the PC versions, making sure that everything looks okay and runs smoothly. That does take a lot of time, and it really increases the amount of work that we have to do.

Having said that, developing it simultaneously for different machines is easier than developing it separately -- developing it for something, and then porting it over onto something else. But it does increase the amount of work that we have to do for the game."

If I were to buy DMC4, cause it looks awesome. I'd probably buy the 360 controler for it, I couldn't play without a mouse for any pc game.

The game looks freaking awesome and surprisingly it looks fantastic. Even with settings turned way up I was at a constant framerate. They either optimized the hell out of it or I need to go see the eye doctor. Also, the control scheme was pretty simple and easy to use. Probally will pick this one up eventually.

Capcom must be seeing real $$$ potential with the PC considering the effort and games they bring to PC. I really love their games so I'm happy. I certainly am getting this game + Street Fighter IV. I don't think that the game will play well with a standard KB/M control scheme, I'm glad I have a joypad.

100+ FPS with 8x AA, 1680x1050, Super High everything, and DX10. I think I might get this game just for the eye candy.

Demo was awesome. I'll be picking this up on release for sure. The only complaint is the awful, awful screen tearing.
