you know i have always wondered this. seeing as im a diablo fanatic. ive installed thsi game countless times and wondered what excatly they took off.. maybe they didnt take off anything but that was there primitive way to stop piracy? like making sure you have the first game and didnt download it off the internet? maybe....

It's a fantastic expansion, there is nothing fishy about it, also get Diablo 2 already stop wondering yourself why LoD needs D2, as for your question about what files does it need, well if you played it before, you would have known that it needs the whole game, all the files, the expansion just adds a new MPQ file.

I already Said I Love The Game I Own Two copys Of The Game Payed For Not Pirated like i said im sitting here installing it just wounderd why i needed all the other discs for the exp disc swaping to install and got alittle carryed away with it the hole thing because most games install with out need older version to instill a exp the older game needs to be installed yes but not when u are installing the new exp

i believe it was a form of cdcheck, also i believe some games didn't use to install the entire cd to the hard drive...since back in the days hard drive space was small. so instead the game will unpack data from the disc to a temperary place only when that game was running....so in the expansion needed those temperary files on the cd, then thats why it asked for the disc to install the expansion
