Ok so Diablo 3 has me excited and I reloaded D2 to play something while I wait. Its cool, enjoyable still but I used to mod WOW and it added to the game without ruining it. I know there is a D2 mod community and I am wondering what the different mods do. I have read some info on mod websites but they make it sound like their mod would make D2 a whole nother level. Change the drops rates, the monsters, the quests, on and on. What does that do the end experience?
I think the mod I used was Sheer Cold Drop Mod. All the enemies dropped rare items, and gave experience potions, but the game itself would open in a different window other than Diablo II. I remember that I found out you can enter one of the txt files in the mod and change it around so that you could gain as many points as you wanted to put into abilities, health, magic, etc, when you leveled up.
While it did sorta ruin the overall experience, it finally allowed me to beat the game on my own.
Good example of mod: Get this and only this ;), best Diablo 2 mod , I could say the only Diablo 2 mod, considering how limited the other ones are.
Bad example of mods (aka mods that ruin the experience): There's also a pretty interesting but in a way useless mod that will turn all the minions into bosses, Diablo, Mephisto, Andariel etc, don't remember the name but I think it was bossfight or something. And there are other modifications, that change the drop, so that it's all unique, others that let you add unlimited points to your hero stats, spells.
