Blizzard just added this to the official site. It looks like you can look at every item in the game.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/

Things I've noticed so far:

  • Only 4 gem colors compared to Diablo: Amythyst, Emerald, Ruby, and Topaz.
  • Each class has a 5 piece set that looks to be best-in-slot at endgame except for weapon. About 5 slots will be open for legendaries/good rares.
  • Unattuned Runes. These seem to be special runes you can somehow convert to any of the 5 rune types. Probably rare drops.

That's stupid. Why would they release this? sort of ruins the suprise and experience of finding new items. I for one won't be looking at it...

Hmm, kinda strange. Maybe I am thinking about this wrong lol :P. Do they have less uniques? ANd why do they have any magic and rare listed? Magic and rare are random. I am so confused lol.

I agree, but I was curious so I looked at a few things. Dont know what they have done with runes, or how they will work. Gems is pretty cool. Sure, there are less but there are so many more grades of the gem. So is there only one set per class? That seems a little stupid.

Just do like I do boys. - I'm not watching any gameplay videos (only videos where the devs explain Battle.net and new features) - I didn't even sign up for the beta...and wouldn't have played it anyway - I'm definitely not looking at this website All so when I get it Day 1, it's all new for me....

I really do not understand why they all this information.

I mean, I like it...but it sort of kills the anticipation.

I'm quite amused by the name of "Scholarly Fez" in the wizard hats section. It sounds like a fez that a Time Lord had worn before.

I'm guessing a lot of the armor appearances are placeholder seeing as it goes against the whole "resetting of armor visuals" they wanted to avoid from D2.

Things like wowhead and thottbot made blizzard create the armory. They take good fan made things and incorporate them into their games. This is like the armory, diablo edition.

EDIT: Actually there was a website like that for diablo, but I can't recall atm what it is called, it had all the runewords and such listed.

Releasing some content before a release drums up hype. This isn't new. If you want to go in fresh for any game, it's best to stay off their site; and in some instances, just stay off the internet :P

When it comes to betas and what not, blizzard seems to just let everything out, I don't really know any other company that does this, although if there are, I'd like to know about them.

lol I know right? I just glossed over the items available and generally how many legendaries were there and stuff. I did not read any of the items and so on. BTW, I take it the list is of all unique items, meaning versions that do not change, which is why crafted is up there? So there are still boat loads more of magic and rare. Good to know.

I don't think it is the entire armory. Especially since the recipes for the Jeweler only have a few of the gems (unless they severely cut back on the types of gems). Probably just a taste of it.

Cool...giving extra information is cool. If you guys don't want to look at it...don't look at it. Simple really. Some people want to check out what they can hopefully look like later down the road.

Yeah I'm sure it's not the whole thing too. I guess I just miss the days where there was no Internet and you had to buy Magazines to just get a SMALL glimpse of future game screenshots...

I would imagine it is at least a lot of the full list, since it is about what you would expect. If you compare the amount of legendaries to the uniques in D2, its not far off, and DII had tons of patches and an expansion which added. Not to mention DIII has unique crafting recipes as you mentioned. I would love to see there be more stuff, but this seems pretty accurate as to what the final amount will be, obviously rare and magic items are not included though.

I have a feeling that what they are letting out now is only a fraction of what will be in the game content/item wise.

I don't think Blizzard is ignorant enough to let out all the stops before the game is even out!

DiabloWiki was already doing this by datamining the beta client files. So... Blizzard might as well do it themselves and in a much higher quality website.

Some people really take character building/specing seriously. I'm sure they already have like 10 builds all laid out.

I love doing that, although I do it after I have bought the game and put in a lot of time. I look at everything for DII, its exciting to shoot for a certain build that is hard to obtain, but I want things to be new feeling at first. I want to go, "woah a unique blah blah blah" and then realize I said unique when it is legendary :P, and then identify it to see its awesome looks and stats.

Same regarding items, but info never spoils the excitement for me, I am however disappointed by the best "assassin" weapon for the monk class, the icon for the 2nd to last looks insanely awesome, but that stats are way lower than the last one, hopefully this is not all, or at least that model that I don't like (which is pretty much the only one from the entire items list I saw) looks better than I expect in game.

At first I thought it was all the items, but now I agree there has to be more. I would bet these items are Normal through Hell only. I bet there is a whole set of even better items in Inferno difficulty they aren't showing.

I didn't look at stats and such, but why does there have to be more? It is hard to judge it against Diablo II, but its about on par with what DII has now, once you take into account crafting and the fact that there are 3 new type of armor pieces.

This just in:

"Item data we've exposed is by and large placeholder, and we're actually in the process of pulling it down due to a lot of reactions just like this. We thought it'd be cool to show some pre-release items in very temporary states, but it's just a matter of fact that people are going to take it at face value. Not that you or anyone else isn't able to discuss the particulars without assuming it's final content, we don't believe that to be true, but in general we don't think the discourse is healthy when it's going to be largely based on placeholder data.

To comment on your specific points though, the vast majority of affixes are simply not implemented in-game, and as the website directly queries game data, it can't pull something that isn't implemented. I'd say affixes are though one area where we want to do as much as possible by game release, but they are directly limited by when we want to finally get the game out the door. At some point feature creep has to stop, and we have to begin testing what should be (game mechanic-wise) a final product.

As you stated though a lot of the crazier affixes did not ship with Diablo II, but were added later. I don't believe that's because the designers didn't have those ideas, but they simply make more sense to expand and broaden the game featureset post-ship. You could argue that it's something that should be baked into the core experience, that Diablo III should be mechanically more complex than Diablo II at release, and the fact of that matter is that it is substantially more complex than Diablo II was at launch.

Bottom line we want as many affixes as we can get for launch, but with runestones, passives, and the itemization we're shooting for, we're already launching a game with far more diverse build potential than Diablo II."
- Bashiock of Blizzard

I wonder just how much is going to change.

Im cool with this sounds like there fine tuning the engine before release..Its a good thing..Even though after seven years it shouldve been out the door already..Blizzard how ever is another story they like to really polish there games..This way they dont get the people saying omfg its buggy as hell..So well see how things go..
