How does it work?

Ive been looking at videos of d3 and have be getting really excited but is it like me and 4 of my friends can go through like a raid and get loot for out characters or what?

And should I get d2 or wait for d3?

It's the singleplayer campaign, except with other people. Self explanatory in my opinion.

get d2 if you can spare some cash. you should be able to find the battle chest (w/ lord of destruction expansion pack) at any video games store. its still being played by a lot of people and its still really good imo.

Diablo 2 is kinda dated in graphics and the online community is elite to say the least. But if you can get passed the graphics and find some other friends who also never played the game I would suggest playing it, sure. The multiplayer aspect works like so, you create a character, host an multiplayer game through battle.net and have people join your game. There are up to 8 players per game. You guys can play through the games story, or kill each other in pvp. Playing through the games story is always different because the world is randomly generated. Download the D2 demo and see if you can stand the grapihcs.

No...just no. They are 2 different games. Anyways Diablo II multiplayer is, as others said, single player with more people. But with more human players, the monsters become tougher and loot becomes better :)
