So recently I purchased an iMac. I live in an apartment with my friend and our modem use to be hooked up out in the living room to splitter that split the TV and modem between the cable outlet. So I recently moved the modem into my room, hooked it up to a splitter and connected a wireless router. Then, I ran an ethernet from the wireless router to my computer. Problem is, I am getting faster internet on my 4 year old laptop via wireless than I am with my brand new computer that is actually connected to the router itself.

Please help!

Having phone filters helped me out. And if you have anything like a monitoring device(House Arrest) will really mess up your connetion.

Ehh I don't think so. I have no idea how to even indicate the problem.
