This game was so sooo badly optimized on the PC it really did need this patch, its currently not on steam but hopefully it will be soon.

I was getting good performance before, but this now gave me about a 15FPS increase with dx10 on.

It's Closed/Open, there were only a limited number of beta keys that anyone could get.

Oh was wondering what that patch did. I'm hoping that the dx11 performance will be just as good when the full game is released.

I'm getting better FPS on High now, then I was on Medium. Also the game feels more responsive, like shots are actually regristering better.

with my gtx 285 and my i7 920 this game still runs like crap.

Dipping down into the 20's fps is just insane.

* I changed my direct x on to 9 and im getting great fps, get up in the 100's and around 50-60 in the heat of battle. Thats a great increase i suppose.

Ditto. I think the reports of "doubled performance" are either bogus or delusions of those claiming the game is performing twice as well. I don't see one patch making any significant performance increases for this game.

It's a spin-off series, but it's really good. I plays like any other Battlefield game.

I'm really confused. Steam says Available 5th March 2010, but below that they have this:-

Battlefield: Bad Company Limited Edition is only available until March 16th at 12:01 AM PST. It includes 6 unlocks at no extra cost!

So by prepurchasing I get the first game? And why is it released on 5th March, yet I don't have to buy till the 16th march to get the extras as a preorder bonus?

And lucky last question:- Is this game worth buying for the $50 AUS price tag?

Cool so I don't have to prepurchase to get those extras. I just have to buy before the 16th. That will give me time to see what reviews say and still get the extras. Thanks. Then again I'm tempted to just go for it, really enjoyed Battlefield 2 but it's starting to look a bit old now. And I think I would enjoy taking out a number of enemy just by taking the building down.

I heard the beta has disabled the "high" end graphical features, the beta options are simply dummies that don't actually do anything. Supposedly the maximum settings you'll see hover around the median point.

Anyway, I'm also getting better performance as well, maybe about 15-20 fps more.

Yeah. The only remaining issue I had was with the whole warping issue but with the introduction of the last patch, that is longer a problem. Game runs smooth at 1920x1080 at max settings.DabsTight703

Sweet that's good news. I have decided to preorder it on Steam. I just can't believe the price. It's great. Now I can't work out why Bioshock 2 was $79US, AVP $64US, and this is only $50US. I'm in Australia but I pay US pricing. Def not complaining about price, it's just weird how there is massive price differences between new releases. It can't be price reflects game quality, because I got Wings of Prey for only $50US and it's great.

i think people are just not used to bullet physics (flight time, drop, etc).

I think the hit detection is fine

not hitting your target? start leading them a bit more

Performance: same as before (everything maxed out 40-60fps and as low as 25fps...:?).

Netcode: sucks... a lot (still a hole clip is required to kill an enemey 2 meters away! :o
