Did anyone else encounter this crash in Stalker?

I've been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R for some time & only had some minor bug problems. However, now I'm at the mission 'Turn off the Brain Scorcher'. Problem is, the mission is in Red Forest & in order to go there I must go through Bar > Army warehouse > Red Forest. And everytime I enter the Army Warehouse the game crashes within few seconds. Weirdly enough, I've been in Army Warehouse section before & played the quest 'Kill the Tower Sniper', although the quest failed. So is this because of some quest conflict/quest timing conflict? Because I've been in Army Warehouse way before told in Gamespot's walkthrough. And I know the patch may fix this problem but the older savegames will not work & I really dont want to start all over again.

 Anyway, lots of you guys have played Stalker so can you tell me:

Is there any way to go to the Red Forest skipping Army Warehouse? Any other way around?

Is there any cheat/trainer to help me get past that section?

Finally, if anyone have a savegame in the Red Forest before the Brain Scorcher mission please please give me the file, I really want to finish the game, I was loving it so far. Thanks.

I have a crash near the freedoms base, where the Duty guys in exoskeltons are preparing an assault.

 I detonate the explosive device on the wall of the freedom base, with a knife - without accepting the sniper kill task from the Duty, or the Raid duty task from the freedom.

This triggers the Duty to assault the freedom, and just as they enter the freedoms base - my game crashes.

 Quite frankly I dont want to pick sides - I simply want to loot their corpses - so I havent played the game since those constant crashes....

I haven't had any game stopping bugs yet in STALKER myself. I did however install the patch that was released for it. Also there are no real cheats for it and I haven't found any trainers for it. I would suggest installing the patch but if you do you would loose your saved games and have to start over from the begining. Check the support site for STALKER and see if they have any information that may help.

Oh yeah, and there is a way that you can join both Freedom and Duty at the same time. Look at the walkthroughs/FAQs that are user submitted here on GS for it.

I just watched them kill each other, then killed the survivors. HAHAHAHA. as far as the crash i havent experienced the one you have described. You should probably do what thanatose pointed out, install the patch.
