I noticed you can actually buy this game onlineand download the entire game in a 4.5 GB Zip File using the Direct-2-Drive service.

I was wondering if anyone bought the game in that manner and how well everything went. I was thinking about downloading it myself just to avoid a trip to the store (although the download price is the exact same as the retail boxed price...maybe I should reconsider that idea?  lol)

Anyway - I was wondering how long it takes to unzip that 4.5 GB file and if it's even worth the hassel...

Also - can you play the DVD version WITHOUT the DVD in your drive? Or does it run those stupid CD-checks?

Buy a boxed copy at a store or at a place like gogamer.com.  Or better yet, on ebay.  That way, you can resell it when you're done with it.

I downloaded my copy of Oblivion from Direct2Drive, and I had no problems whatsoever.  It took about 2 1/2 hours, and the game has run flawlessly.

I have always bought the box version of the game myself. You can probably find the box version cheaper than you can get it from D2D. Oblivion is a great game, but I would take the extra care and just get the boxed version. Don't forget... Shivering Isles comes out today!!!  :D :D :D

I would always buy a game online if I could, using D2D or from the publisher (EA Link). I much prefer downloading my game and it is the future, so everyone needs to get used to it...

I have not downloaded Oblivion, but I did buy and download Titan Quest from them and it went perfect ! but then I tried to get immortal Throne.... and things went all wrong :(

I never did get it, and I created a ticket with them, and it took over 2 days before someone responded and by that time I did not care, because I got it at ebgames for the same price ......

If you can download it from them it works fine, but if you have a prob... don't expect quick customer service.

I didn't buy Oblivion on D2D, but I've bought 5 others. I bought CRC05, Dues Ex, Swat 4 Gold, Beyond Good and Evil...my biggest file was World of Warcraft and I had not a single problem with any of them.
