I was at the Mall yesterday to see a movie and had some time to kill before it started. So me and a friend went to EBGames to see if they had any PC Games worth purchasing (We can dream can't we?) and low and behold I noticed The Witcher (Non-EE) for 9.99. So I picked it up thinking how can you lose.

My question is though, is the non-EE worth it?

I've also heard that you can download a patch that incorporates the EE into the non-EE. Is this true?

i dissagree painfully i have the non enhanced and ALL the patches that turn it to enchaned, either buy enchaned or dont play it until you download all the patches... so you wanna buy it, buy it but do some reasearCh on what the the patches offer and get them.....they are quite big unfortantly, in any case id buy EE instead of dowloading the big patches, but yeah buy the normal version if you got good connection.... i dont :( sorry for making it such a big deak but the patches dont just fix bugs but change stuff and ENHANCE the game... you get even new adventures and an editor.

I'm pretty sure the people who originally bought the game before the EE came out could download the additional stuff the EE had free of charge.

to get the EE all you need to do is go to the witcher page and login, register your game and download the patch. Actually the patch is probably available elsewhere for free even if you don't register. But yeah I played witcher vanilla edition and it was excellent enough for me.

Also - Tomorrow, another patch is coming out, removing DRM - you won't have to have the disc in the drive anymore. It also has other fixes and extra content. Make sure to download the EE patch first though.

Absolutely great deal! Since you can update your version to the Enhanced Edition free, for 10 bucks, it's just great! Good monster hunting!

So, it seems I ran into an issue. Appears my game didn't come with a CD-Key to register it for the updates.....and it also appears that it is common with the Canadian Edition. So, let's hope Atari support is willing to look at my case soon. Oh well, at least I can still play the game until then.
