So last night while messing around on my computer, I decided to check temps on my gpu, and it read 117 Celsius! Rebooted and it was back to 57C, but it froze when I loaded up CoD, so I shut it down again, but would not boot up. nothing happened at all when I pressed the on button. Then I try again this morning and It turns on then makes this nonstop loud Beep noise, so I quickly shut it off. Now I can't turn it on at all, the cpu fan twitches, my mouse lights up aswell. Did my psu just die or what?

My specs are:

AMD Dual core x2 550be

xfx 9800gt

4 gig ddr2 ocz ram

generic harddrive

and cooler master 600 watt psu

any ideas?

i cant say, i think maybe your video card is fried, but with the cpu fan twitching, idk what to tell you. Look in the Mobo manual, it should give you the beeping errors, like 2 beeps means memory problem and so on.

the beeping could either be from the mobo or GPU. once i forgot to plug in the two side plugs for my 8800GTX and it let of an almighty roar. double check to make sure your GPU is plugged in properly. you may have loosened a connection or something while messing around. also i dont think any hardware should be getting anywhere near 117c. its possible that it was a false reading...or your GPU fried. the fact that you loaded up a game and your PC collapsed is not a good sign. but yeah...double check that your GPUs fan plugs are in.

well it the CPU fan twitches and doesn't spin it might be a power supply problem. Sometimes a power supply can send more power to a component than it needs to and it can overload that component which might explain why your video card is so hot. see if you can find another power supply hanging around to test your components with.

by the way jstamm33 sorry but I gotta post a quick shout out message to my friend cause the amount of new inbox messages and the sigs aren't updating at the moment and I've already posted something about it in the help threads so hopefully they are working on fixing it.

Oh and by the way just as a message to my friend SMC91532: I sent you messages to your inbox but the amount of new messages you have isn't updating at the moment so that's why it says you have zero new messages but I did send you messages so check your inbox.
