Dinosaur games...

You know what would be a really cool game?...a dinosaur game...Like jurasic park..It would be amazing to run through the bush with dinosaurs on your butt..It would be really cool if it was like an Rpg..Your with a squad of people like in jurasic part 2 and its all about survival...IMHO i think that would be pretty cool.

Ever played Trespasser? It was a JP title with an engine ahead of its time-it had a physics engine not too far behind HL2's at a time when game physics were basic for the most part, and its animation wasn't canned. You also had to manipulate your arm with your mouse. Too bad that the physics amounted to box-stacking puzzles, the dinos moved as if they had 200-proof alcohol for blood, and your arm always felt flimsy. Maybe if they remade the game today to not have so many bugs, have the creatures animate in a non-canned manner, yet not drunk, and have a beefier arm that can hold a pistol fairly straight, among many other things...(And, to enhance the moving-your-arm aspect, it should be on the Wii.)NamelessPlayer

Dude, that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. (I specifically imagined myself playing a wooly mammoth, fending off a war party of spear-toting primitives, or as an archaeopteryx, sight-seeing, cruising the mid-altitudes, and occasionally swooping down to steal dinosaur eggs.)

And you know what engine would be perfect for that? The gorgeous, "sandbox"-y Crysis/Far Cry 2 engine.

Action adventure or RPG? I envision it as an action game with RPG-ish elements a la SS2 or NOLF2, where you can upgrade stats and attacks and such.

I swear there was some Jurassic Park game on the Playstation or something way back when where you could play a T Rex. The human enemies hurt you quickly with their guns, but your health was replenished a little everytime you ate another one.

I ended up using level cheats the whole time. You only got to be the T-Rex at the end. Even the raptor levels were crap, and when you got to play as a human you still sucked.

Am I the only one here who owns Jurassic Park Project Genesis?

It's basically Theme park, but with dinosaurs. You build enclosures and fill them with dinosaurs, then set up viewing domes and baloon rides and stuff. You also have to set up defences because your dinosaurs escape every time there's a storm, which seems to be about once every damn minute at times.

It's a good game and I picked it up for about $4, so I felt it was worth the six or seven hours I played it. The only problem with the game is that there's no real escalation. In games like Theme Park, as you went on, you had crazy new rides coming and always had to deal with your employees striking - but in JPPG, while you do get new dinosaurs... it's like... okay, so I had deactophlyisaurus since the beginning in a square enclosure, now I have deiactophlyisaurus, which is just the same damn thing except it has a dorsal ridge... in a square enclosure.

If you are a total dinosaur nerd you will probably need to buy yourself a box of tissues and some hand cream, but for everyone else it's just a fairly novel Theme Park clone.

dont forget turok 2 on the n64! In multiplayer you could actually play as a raptor... I loved to 'head shot' people with my claws. Great memories!

Anyone ever played 3D Hunting Extreme? It had a cheat mode where you could play as a raptor.

It also had absolutely horrid controls, and a visual fidelity somewhere beneath that of the DS port of Quake 1.
