[QUOTE="chessboxer1"]Had Vista since January and not had a single problem with it. Going to get a 8800 GTS soon to complete my move to DirectX 10.BounceDKGet a DX10.1 card instead.
DX10.1 has already said to be almost no improvement nor are games even worrying about having it in there.

Compatibility is what I'm thinking about and money saving. DX10 cards won't be able to play DX10.1 games.. Its for another purpose.. There was a whole other article on this.. You will still be able to runt eh game in DX10, infact there hasnt been a single game announced that will use DX10.1 because it adds nothing large tot he game.

DX10 didn't add graphical or performance either, so what's your point? DX10 cards won't be able to run DX10.1 either way. So why waste your money? And just because games will still be using DX10 doesn't mean that you'll be able to run DX10.1 games.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="BounceDK"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]Get a DX10.1 card instead.[QUOTE="BounceDK"][QUOTE="chessboxer1"]Had Vista since January and not had a single problem with it. [QUOTE="EvanSkanes"]Just bought an 8600 GTS OC'd today. Just gatta wait for it to arrive. And Vista is already loaded on my PC. I'm set in terms of everything else.BounceDKYou won't see how your G80 kicks ass when you use Vista.
You really need to get over your Vista woes.
Well, my laptop came with Vista and a dx10 card so I'm there. Bioshock looks great, can't really tell the difference between DX9 & 10 though.moocow21
There are some image quality advantages with DX10 over DX9 http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/bioshock_directx10_performance/page4.asp
But yeah, still waiting on a game with dramatic DX10 improvements.

I can, in the shadows and lighting effects mostly. The water effects are more subtle but still look a little better.
Yhe only thing you see is more particles and that's it, don't try to make something it isn't BounceDK
Well actually guys you have to put in perspective.. Bioshock isnt a true DirectX 10 game, the majority of all the effects are tacked on from the port, just like Lost Planet.

No you can't. Did you ever see the DX9 sceenshots? No you didnt't. I'm still waiting for Crysis, oh it's gonna be the DX10 good ness.. Face the facts, stop being a flippin Vista fanboy .. SeriouslyI don't think anyone is being a fanboy here. My experience so far has been no where near the doom and gloom that people all over the internet have been saying about Vista. It's actually been quite pleasant.

According to the gamespot hardware guide you get 60 frames using Vista in DX10 and 65 using XP in DX9. Is that a huge difference for a better image quality? It can also be turned off if you want those frames back. Right now I am using XP at work and it looks so old compared to Vista. It was about time an upgrade came.

Dude, the only thing I'm trying to say is that there is an image quality improvement with DX10 (i.e. it looks better). For example, quoted from the article "In the images above you can see how the shadow of the woman and stroller are less blurry under DX10. The edges of shadows are much crisper actually!"
Personally, I can see the difference. If you don't see it, don't think it's worth it, don't like the reasons behind it, whatever...that's cool too, absolutely your choice.

Ease off the caffiene, I have seen plenty of the comparison screen shots and you won't be able to tell the difference simply by viewing those IMHO. You have the see and play the game yourself or see a HD video of the two side by side. The shadows and lighting are much better in DX10.

You won't see any difference in graphics at all, all you get is a larger number of particles = Who caresjust a note you can have directx 10 on xp you just have to download the software so you might want to make that as one of the choices and yes it does work, i play bioshock with directx 10 enabled on my xp computermoulshaYep DX10 will land on XP users eventually. But who needs DX when you got OpenGL???! I feel bad for the fanboys, I really do.
