Now, i'm under the impression that once Windows 7 is officially released that DirectX11 Video Cards will release by the end of this year or possibly beginning of 2010. If this is the case then what games are we aware of that will arrive at that time to utilize the DirectX11 because if there is a game or two that we are aware of I sure would love to read an article just to get an impression. Also, I understand that this isn't the board for consoles, but im curious whether this means that future PS3 and 360 games will also be using the technology or if they will be on their own if that makes any sense.

Couple of things 1) There aren't enough DirectX 10 games...so we don't need DirectX 11 anytime soon. 2) The consoles can't even do DirectX 10 effects so I doubt they will be capable of DirectX 11. 3) Why are you writing in black font? Its nearly impossible to see...

Actually, DX11 is going to be much easier for developers to work with. Not all advancements are graphical: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3507

I agree, we don't need DirectX11 right now, technology advances too fast. Why upgrade a computer or buy a new one every year unless you have plenty of money to spend to change one or two things anyway?

Btw, please don't use black writing again. Hard to see

We probably wont see Directx 11 games at least at the end of summer in 2010. For anyone who is panicking because they just bought a GTX 295 dont need to worry about it for years. Xbox 360 hardware could only use Directx 8.0, its possible a new Xbox will becoming out by 2011 that will use Directx 11. Please use a font color other then black.

If DX11 is easier on developers then I say why not but if I have to buy another GPU to get it then thats just bull... There is no reason why a newer direct X shouldent work on my GPU.

Hopefully the recession will slow down advancement slightly giving us all a chance to catch up but when it's over I have no doubt it will speed right back up.

Edit: Might like to add that the inital release dates of the ATI 58xx and Nvidia 3xx are set for August and likely to go to October/November, they are DX11 combatible.

isn't most of today's cards compatible with DX11? I read a while ago that except for a few small features, you won't need any DX11 specific hardware.

This is off topic, but is anyone else having major glitches with the forums? Whenever I select a topic Gamespot sends me to a seemingly random one from another board, ranging from System Wars to the Final Fantasy Union. This topic is apparently an exception.

DirectX 10 was just an upgraded DX9, so lets hope DX11 will be a revamped version of the software instead of DX9 3/4. As lucky326 said, new cards are making their way Q4 2009, but there won't be any "DX11" games until well into next year. "Don't worry, be happy"

There's plenty reason. It's a new API with new instructions for a new revision of hardware, that are not on your current gpu.

About consoles: They don't and can't use Direct X At all. They have their own API. Implementing DX11 in consoles is basically impossible, but reaching it's quality, maybe yes.

And about PC games... Guess we know the one and only API Crysis 2 will support now.
