Hi,

I received my copy this morning and I've been playing for a few hours, so far I am really happy with the game the weather effects add so much to the rally experience and takes me back to the days of Network Q RAC Rally and V-Rally. There doesn't appear to be a thunderstorm weather option available something that Network Q RAC Rally did manage even during the 90's. Snow doesn't interact with your window which is unfortunate but rain does and it looks pretty cool. Personally I would have liked to have seen a more in depth weather options like sleet, thunderstorms and maybe even wind.

I found that driving is much easier in Dirt 3 so it's nice to crank up difficulty and assists to advanced and make sure everything is off I found this option to be similar to the way the cars handled in Dirt 2.

I've uploaded a video of a rainy stage in Michigan I will upload another video of a snowy stage later on today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjxEUIqoX1I

Enjoy.

Sweet vid, thanks!

Hey, can you tell me, are the weather effects vriable, or are they tied to a specific track? Can you play the track on the video in dry wheather, if you wanted to?

Also, did they take out raid type tracks out entirely (where everyone starts simultaenously)?

Can't wait till Tuesday!

@Kinthalis

Yeah you can change the weather and conditions options for example on the Michigan stages you can choose from rain, evening sun, morning sun, wet and night. Obviously on tracks in Norway the rain option is replaced by snow one slight problem though is you can't choose midday on any of the tracks only morning, evening and night.

Hey, where did you get your copy? There doesn't seem to be a retail boxed copy in the US and the only option is to buy on Steam.

Do you happen to know if the track is based on a real one and where it is in Michigan specifically?

The textures seem a bit blurrier than I was expecting, given how good Dirt 2 looked. Not that it's a huge negative if the driving feels as good , but still...

Damn the game looks sweeeet. Otherwise it's just regular old Dirt, but with shinier graphics and more cars that were missing in Dirt 2.

@agpickle The track in the video is called Lighthouse View I am not 100% sure if the tracks are representations of the real life version however from the dev interview videos i've watched I know that the various buildings around the track are those you find in the area that the race is taking place.

crud only 60%? in terms of absolutes is that still a ton of rally (as in more than 05 for example)? also is it possible to completly ignore the other stuff? i dont like the other racing types in previous dirt games personally so i didnt bother with dirt 2 and am pretty shaky on this.

Epic, I'm gonna have to get this when the price drops, Dirt 2 is sick. The addition of different times of day and weather is exactly what the Dirt series needed. Sweet vid, glad to see you playing in cockpit view!! makes driving sooo tense! I love it.

Great vid. I hope they didn't simplify the handling too much, the DiRT 2's was perfect. And no slippery road in rain and snow sucks :(

Dirt 3 Winter Wonderland Norway

I am not going to lie and say I manage to get the recording correct first time because I didn't the truth is I spent a lot of time on my roof or skidding through multiple wooden fences. It is not easy driving on the snow with none of the driving assists enabled but after about an hour I managed to finish the race safely and come first.

Hey, big question for you - how does it run? Is it more demanding than Dirt 2? I remember being able to run Dirt 2 on all high - I think - so how does this game compare?

Nice...very nice...thx for posting the videos...I should get my copy of Dirt3 pretty soon...cant wait...

They really got it with Dirt3...the cars(animation) dosent seem to float/skate on the roads...It really looks like a car thats moving on the road not floating on it...and the graphics are more realistic...at least in the last video you posted...

Thx again for posting!!! Ived subscribed to ur youtube account :D

It's Eagle Harbor, MI. Ended up finding it based off the lighthouse. Thanks for the hint. :)

Ok so on basically a modern system is runs perfectly. I, unfortunately, do not have the upgrades yet. My system: Q6600 @ 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM, GTX 260 Core 216, Windows 7 64bit, and 1680x1050 rez. How do you think?

Lol. It's very unfortunate not all of us can have super computers isn't it? I have a GT240 and while I don't expect to max it out, based on how well Dirt 2 runs, I think Dirt 3 will run just fine at the lower settings for me.

Mind uploading a 1080p to a website somewhere? Youtube has really crappy picture quality, but I wanna see that video again! :o

@morrowindnic The DX11 stuff looks slightly better in Dirt 3 the biggest improvement is how water looks when you travel through it, it's still got all the tessellation and cloth effects, as for actual graphical options they are all the same as Dirt 2.

@rhazzy Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the video.

@Gamesterpheonix With your current specs I can't see you having any problems running the game you might have to tone down the AA slightly but I can't see your fps being lower than 30 even with everything maxed out. I believe that Dirt 3 is a DirectX 9 or 11 game so because your card is a DirectX 10 currently you will only be able to play the game using D9 which means you won't get the full graphical experience but it will still look good.

@ChubbyGuy40 I have deleted the original file from my computer but I am planning on uploading another at some point today maybe some Kenya? I will upload that to YouTube at 1080p.

TOMMEY707

I can't see any tracks from Australia :( the countrys and places you do see are Norway, Finland, Kenya, Michigan, Aspen, L.A. Coliseum, Monaco, Smelter and under Gymkhana I can't seem to find Battersea Power Station, London this is all under the single player options.

Here is a new video

@aroxx_ab The videos in this topic are taken from the PC version, i think the graphics are good it's not a massive step up from Dirt 2 but a small one.
