dirt 3 system requirements set loose! gpu's are about to weep like babymen!

my friends the dirt 3 system requirements are in and man there a doozy

first ill do the minimum's:

intel pentium D/athalon 64 x2 2.8ghz

2gb ram

geforce 8800series/hd 2900 series

now for the recommendeds.. before i do this sets the tone nicely:

Stuff that. But, why is the recommended P II x4 or i7? Since when has Phenom II been on par with i7. Should be Phenom II x4 or C2Q.C_Rule

So dirt 3 will be a dx10/11 game only?

because the 8800 and 2900 were the 1st cards to have dx10 capabilities.

I fail too see why that's the reccomended. It doesn't look that big of a leap from DiRT2 to be suggesting such high-end cards and CPUs. Unless DiRT3 on max settings is mindblowing, i'm calling BS on this.

Well if I were you I would of spent more money on your GPU and less on that CPU. Few games need an I7 while a lot more could use better than a 5770.

From what ive seen 5870 (my card) is faster than 6870 , so i think ill be good :P

But...but...I have two 5770s! Seriously, though; when I've benchmarked my setup in JC2 and Warhead, I have come out with similar framerates to a GTX570 so I expect I'll be fine.

While you are right about the processor, hopefully it will mean I can just have a mid-life GPU upgrade while the i7 can handle anything I can throw at it for the next four or so years and not suffer too badly in the process (That's my logic, at any rate).

Another thing to consider is that it probably means the slowest i7 at the stock clock which would be 2.53Ghz. So even if you had an older quad overclocked to 3.2Ghz or higher you would be fine. I also agree that they probably mean a low to middle range card for the GTX 500/Radeon 6000 series.

Plus there are other games with high recommended requirements that do not look spectacular and are just poorly coded like Dragon Age 2 and Final Fantasy XIV.

This make me happy.

Seeing as it's a Codemasters game i wouldn't get to excited some special PC attention. It's prolly just crappy optimization.

I hate all this over the top requirements lately, a 460 is up there with some of the lower end 6000 series. AMD x4 vs an i7

anyway thats a pretty pungent set of system requirements unoptimized or not that pretty high up ill wait on yougamers to see if it holds true.. they also review major titles and re-asses their optimization either moving it up or down.

sc2 for example is WAY off.. too properly max it at 1680 x 1200 your going to need a quad core and like a gtx 460 1gb..

There does seem to be a trend of over shooting reccomend settings.

Even though I'm not worried about myself, they could be biting themselves in the foot as far as appealing to the casual pc gamers go.
