I have an HP Pavilion a6000n and I am planning on getting a Powercolor Radeon 4670. Do I have to disable my integrated card and drivers? Do I do that before I put in the new card? I've heard you can just put in the new card and it will disable the onboard card. I've also heard that you can't disable the card from the BIOS on an HP. Is that true? If it is, how would I disable it? Going into safe mode?

It will automatically set your new GPU to default.

So I just pop in the new card and it will disable the integrated card?

I thought I had to disable it in BIOS or going into safemode and uninstalling all the drivers from the previous card.

Do you have experience with this particular model? Because not all motherboard BIOSes will do that for you. @Drigger: I don't know anything about your particular model, but it's usually a case-by-case thing. Try just sticking it in and seeing if it works. If it does, good for you...but if not, then you'll have to go into the BIOS and find the option to turn off the integrated card. It's different on every PC, so you'll just have to dig for it. It should be relatively obvious.

Do not forget to uninstall your integrated graphics drivers. When you buy your video card and you are about to install it, boot it one last time with the integrated, download your new video cards drivers from atis website, then uninstall your integrated video drivers, then turn off your computer. Physically install your new graphics card. When you boot now, windows should revert to its own generic video drivers and you can now install your new video cards drivers.

It also helps if you have a secondary computer(maybe a friends or your parents or whatever) that works to use to ask troubleshooting questions with in case something goes wrong.
