I'm not sure if this topic should fit into this section of the forum, but here goes. :) I have an Xbox 360, already 4 years old or something, but still works like a charm. I have it hooked up into a 42 inch Samsung plasma using a HDMI cable. Display setting is set to optimal, which allows for the setting to 1280x720. I have always selected this setting and every game I've played looked stunning so far. But yesterday, when I bought Tiger Woods PGA 13 and started playing it, I noticed black rectangle bars on the top and bottom of my screen, as if I was using a 4:3 old school TV. When I return to the Xbox menu, the bars are gone. To solve this problem I tried a lot of thing, switching HDMI sockets on my TV, fiddling with the display settings on my TV and Xbox... I found a solution to remove the black bars, which was selecting another display setting: 1080p. But now the graphics do not look as stunning as they used to. The Xbox green in the menu's is now starting to hurt my eyes when I look at it... So my question is, is there any way to remove the black bars and keep on using the optimal resolution to keep my colouring like it is meant to be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks.
Thanks for your reply. I have set the resolution to one of these, but now the colours are less sharp and too bright... Isn't there a way to continue on optimal resolution (1280 x 720) without these black bars and stretched display appearing? I just can't seem to understand why it has to be like this all of a sudden... Thanks.
Some games have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. It depends on the games resolution. GT5, for example, runs just below 1080p and has a small border.
