I just put a second6950 into my pc and am seeing very little improivment it Crysis' performance. I get up to 70-80 FPS, and 20-30 FPS in other places, especally while driving. What is with the FPS? In some places it even seems like a downgrade ion performance. This is all on max settings with No AA.

if you look up Maxishine on youtube, he does extreme benchmarks, and his quad SLI 580s stil lget around 50-60 fps in warhead. I do think the game suffes from lack of multi GPU support

This is Crysis 1. I've been playing a little bit more and my avg FPS is between 40-60 and am experiencing huge FPS spikes. I'd rather it be a constant 40 than this because the spikes make the game feel slower. I expected I'd get around 60 FPS, not 40, and at some times 30 FPS.

40 is totally playable and smooth though.... so you should be fine.

The game is demanding and doesn't scale SLI/Crossfire that great from what I heard, though it should be an improvement. Hopefully your cpu can handle the game as well.=p

Does it even use both gpus effectively, what's the gpu usage on them? I found this out with MSI afterburner.

What is your cpu? I had a weak cpu before amd 5600+ 2.8ghz an my fps would flucalute alot and provide a not smooth experiece and go download ccc 2.21 and install lvl 5 or 6 of the mod with the custom tod will make your game look better and get better performance! I kid you not i tested it and lvl 5 looked better then vannila very high and performed only a few frames below vannila high!

Crysisdidnt scale well with crossfire when released but it does now. About 80% performance increase.

6950 goes from 50fps single to 89 with crossfire in this bench with an I7 920 at 3.3 ghz

Well, yes and no... seems to jump all over the place and Crysis 1 seems to like certain AMD cards. Some people reported awesome frame rate with a pair of HD 5870 cfx, but some AMD cards blows. Rest assured, it happens with Nvidia cards as well.. my GTX 460's get chewed up in Crysis Warhead but it does very well in Crysis 1 though, oddly. Frame rate is everywhere in this game.. it's never stable...You would probably need a GTX 580 to get 50+ consistently. Crysis is a monster.. so don't take it the wrong way when your performance isn't stable. It's just Crysis. :P

Don't people realize that C1 is just one horribly coded game ? even with 2010-11 hardware we can barely do 40fps average .

I'm using an i5 2500k. Doesn't Crysis have some sections that use CPU more than GPU? Maybe it's that, I'm on the second mission, I think its called recovery.

It works with both and if you don't install the tod it will have the same lighting as original crysis.

But TC, you never told us about the GPU usage, that plays a HUGE role. When your gpu isn't being used up in the 90s, something is up.

50 for the 1st one? That shouldn't be right, I say switch them and see what happens, though I'm not entirely sure since I'm no expert at Crossfire. When the gpu isn't being nearly entirely used up, it will focus on the cpu to make up for it, and what's your ghz for your i5-2500k?

If you want you could overclock to 3.6ghz and see what happens. I know these cpus can get to 4.0+ghz very easily with proper cooling.

I remember one user said he had a 5-15 FPS increase by simply overclocking a few ghz.

Why so much fuss? TC: is the game playable or not? if so, then why worry?

The problem is you have too much gpu power and not enough graphical usage. That is why you have low gpu usage.

You must upgrade in accordance to your monitor. otherwise you're just wasting GPU power. If the resolution is not high enough, the GPUs won't be strained. If you bought a new monitor which has a higher resolution, you would get 100% usage and close to the same framerates you're getting now + better visuals..

So you should crossfire for better visuals not for speed.

edit: also make sure you're running the game in DX10. Because I noticed bad performance with crossfire on Crysis with dx9.

If your GPU isn't being used mostly, then it'll definitely focus on the CPU(games like Bad Company 2 are cpu focused). You should try at least 3.6 and these cpus are known to get to 4.0+ghz easily with cpu cooling.

According to benchmarks you should be getting higher FPS than what you got. Though the game is known to dip in various sections. Also, are your gpus overclocked?

No and no. Just because in some developer presentations on some games he ratio is 1:1, it doesn't mean that you'll actually have 84%/84%, one card will almost always be used a lot more than the other. Crysis has a superb engine that requires a lot of power and because of what it creates with that power it will slow down (when you have an intense moment in the game); you have even more power than required but the current hardware just isn't fast enough to deliver it efficiently same as how the Cryengine suffocates itself with all the detail. The game is to blame (not because of bad coding, game runs perfectly fine) and hardware (not your hardware, it's great, hardware in general). Also, never listen to people that recommend overclocking, your CPU is more than enough for games and they're becoming more and more fragile to high temperature, before even considering overclocking, you need to get a decent cooling system that would be able to handle it at high temperatures with ease, but you don't need that at all.

According to benchmarks, I should be getting 60+FPS without AA. I'm getting 20-40. Is this a software or a hardware issue? Should I download any specific drivers? I know other people have gotten great performance out of these cards, or at least better than if it was a single card.

Really should try that config i posted here is how crysis looks on my 5770 1G at 1920x1080 at 28-35fps dx9 using level 5 of the config.

This is with an i7@ 3.8ghz which is worse than your CPU DX10 very high settings, I cant believe people are actually recommending overclocking a sandy bridge as a solution.:?

Something is clearly wrong somewhere, you gotta figure it out. Have you tried reinstalling different drivers??

Defraging the HDD is not going to help unless the game is stuttering...

First and for most. Isolate the problem. Is it Crysis related or hardware related? Do you get decent FPS on other games and it's only Crysis which is playing. Or is it overall issue with your Crossfire setup on all games? Check online benchmarks and compare them to yours to find out..

Defragged, nothing new. Reinstalling drivers now. I'm getting pretty good performance on other games. I went from Max setting w/ no AA. to Max Settings with 8xAA on DA2.

[QUOTE="Gambler_3"] I cant believe people are actually recommending overclocking a sandy bridge as a solution.:?mitu123
It'll help in the long run.>.>

It never helps, not when you're not going for the extreme with extreme hardware...you always recommend overclocking for any problem, it never is the solution, you'll do more harm to the already confused TC, like you just did here, he overclocked it a little and the game started to crash....you don't just recommend overclocking to any person you see on a forum.

Also TC

What PSU are you using?

He does have a good point, does your PSU have enough power to support your build?

It should. It's a TP 750W Antec. I re-installed the drivers, ran the benchmark, averaged 35 FPS, but it didn't look stable and dipped to 20 multiple times.

Run 3Dmark/Vantage or uniengine Heaven benchmarks and post results + what settings you used.

I'll run it tomorrow and post the results.
