There are a few previews of the new Divinity game from Larian Studios. The game looks to be shaping up nicely. It's also an isometric third-person RPG that they're hoping to capture a little of the old Ultima vibe with. The game also is going to have co-op for those who are inclined to such things.

It's nice to finally see a preview for an actual PC RPG instead of another action oriented console port.

I guess it's time to play Divine Divinity then. I enjoyed Divinity 2 and I already have DD in my GoG account

Dunno about ya'll, but what impressed me in Ultima VII was its incredibly open ended nature and it's wonderfully huge, detailed world. I'm not liking the artst.yle they have chosen for this game at all, but, i love the fact that they picked a turn-based combat system, added modding capabilities and the world is at least as large as Divine Divinity (which was Elder Scrolls meets Diablo kind of game).

It's turn-based so it's probably not going to be an ARPG.

Well of course it doesn't look interesting to you (it's not made by Blizzard) and I'd have to start questioning my own taste level if it did.

And yet again you, mate you trolled every single topic at this forum you dont get tierd of doing it ? There is a place for people similiar to your own attitude, and that place is called "Blizzard community" Divine Divinity was one of best PC games of its own time, Divine 2 was really uniqe game and fun and i know that Laurian studio is really creative and tallented from its begging and still they are. So Divinity Original Sin will be just a reincarnation of original product, and it cant fail if they going to remake Divine Divinity with few tweaks !

Nice, looks awesome.

Has a more vibe of Divine DIvinity then Divinity2 (with the Ultima kinda look).

Cannot wait! Enjoyed Divinity2, but DIvine Divinity is one of my top 5 rpgs ever.

Every single topic? Yeah, gross exaggeration there. I'll stay here all I want. I use Blizzard's forums as well as these and there's plenty of people that play Blizzard games that have every right to post here as you do. Saying it looks uninteresting is not trolling. Just because it annoys YOU and Wildflower doesn't mean it's trolling. If you can't handle seeing people's opinions, a forum is one of the last places you should be.

Taking risks is what I like best about these smaller development houses (especially the ones who have thrown off the shackles of a major publisher).

"Original Sin is an RPG that Larian probably could not have made if they didn't publish the game themselves. An isometric turn-based RPG sounds probably too risky to most publishers." -from one of the articles I linked to in the OP -

Kickstarter, and this quiet, unheralded rebellion from some of the smaller development studios (particularly those in Europe) are giving me hope that we don't, and won't, have to play one type of game any longer. We've had (have and will have) enough action-adventure-lite-rpgs to last a lifetime, maybe 3 lifetimes.

It's nice that a few companies are willing to address a niche that hasn't been scratched in a long time.

Have you seen the info they have released about Dragon Commander? It's sound so awesome...it's not just dragons with jetpacks...there's tactics on the battlefield, grand strategy on a global map, politics and diplomacy, and all sorts of other cool mechanics like a technology and magic upgrade system. These are the kind of cool, deep, and chunky games I like playing. I am very happy there are companies like Larian still willing to take a risk and make games like this. I personally will be buying both the new Divinity as well as Dragon Commander.

Amen to that, and I hope this trend continues. More than that, I hope a lot of gamers get behind this movement, and actually buy the games to support the developers. Because if these games prove successful, they will have the necessary funds to make more of them.

I am buying them both, too. Companies like Larian are worth supporting. I will also buy them at full price which is something I never do with the so-called AAA games.

Larian can afford such risks because they have a very successful educational games business.

While I don't doubt that, what prevents developers like Bioware, Blizzard, Bethesda, etc. from taking similar risks? I'm guessing each of those companies are successful enough that they could afford to buy Larian 10 times over yet they always play it safe.

Yes it's too bad that it doesn't have to be good to get a place in the market but that shouldn't effect those with discriminating tastes.

Seems like it is a nice fit for my gf, and I to co-op in it, especially as fans of Diablo, and Titan Quest, and Torchlight.

Thanks for the heads up.

Remember this game is turn-based so it's not going to play anything like those games you mentioned. Although, it is supposed to be "accessible" which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view.

If you don't like TB, I don't know why you'd have any interest in this game in the first place.

I'm LOVING that Sven decided to go TB. We NEED some non-*** TB games, FFS.

Maybe he saw how good the Wasteland 2, Shadowrun.. kickstarters went and that gave him the incentive to go for it. Good for you Sven !!

Thanks for the heads up, we don't mind a little change in formula, often we embrace it. Turn-based won't be an issue, and is welcomed in a way.

With DIII, Torchlight II, Path Of Exiles, Eternal Lineage, and Grim Dawn... (I think having a Turn-based style gameplay thrown in there would be refreshing at that point.

But thanks for the heads up anyway.

It?s closer in style to the studio?s first game, Divine Divinity: so close in fact that Original Sin will end where 2002?s Divine Divinity sets off.

OH. MY. GOD.

Finally, a deserved sequel to one of my all time favorite games !

They'll have to make a hell of a good game to come close to the original.

Nah, the best game in the series was like this (Divine Divinity), looking forward to it even more now. Divinity2 was awesome but it was no Divine divinity imo.
