I am in the process of getting a new HDTV, which would be a nice huge step up from my old Philips 30" CRT HDTV and this one caught my eye in sears (the place where I got the credit card so I can buy the TV..) http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-HL-S5686W-56-DLP-Projection-HDTV-HLS5686W_W0QQitemZ180126467371QQihZ008QQcategoryZ61407QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

now they have DLP, Plasma and all that, but I know Samsung is the best HDTV you can get.

but while I was talking about it with a friend he said that DLP's arent good for gaming, he wouldnt elaborate or anything

I think I am going to go read some Plasma Vs DLP vs LCD editorials..

I have one of the earlier Samsung DLPs, I think its 3 or 4 years old, 56". So far I haven't had any problems with gaming but I've had some reliability problems, but then again it is an earlier model. Just buy an extended warranty if you can because there is nothing more annoying then when a mirror dies.

Go to Circuit City showroom one time.  When I went there, they had a 360 connected.  It was quite breath taking.

Wait for the new LED based 87s and 89s to come down. You don't have to change the bulbs, reduced rainbowing if that's a problem for you and better blacks
