do games take longer to download than anything else?

i was trying to download the Halo demo from home yesterday and it was only going 30 kb/s, then i quit out of the download because i thought i could download it at school and put it on a flash drive, usually i get 450 kb/s at school, and it was going at only 20-30 kb/s

Perhaps your school and home ISP throttle certain types of data, such as games or maybe you have a cap on your download speed at home.

Yeah just sounds like the site you're downloading from is slow... try downloading from a site closer to where you live preferably.

Remember that games are just bits and bytes like any other file. Download speed will depend on your isp, the speed of the file server that is providing the file and also that servers connection speed. As stated before, find a diffrent download location. I Just downloaded the beta for Need for Speed World and it downloaded in 20 minutes and it was 1.5 gig.
