do graphics cards have power supply requirements?

Im planning to buy a certain grpahics card but my friend says that my power supply is to low to installuse the card. So is it true that graphics cards have power supply requirements?

Yes they do, but you'd probably get better answers in the PC Hardware forum.

Yes they do have minimum power supply requirements. To find out what your card needs check its spec. To find out your current power supply rating just look inside your tower at the power supply unit and its printed on the side. If you power meets the minimum requirements but is under the reccommended you can still install the card but it will most likely run in a low power mode. All power ratings are in watts.

PSU's are quite cheap though so if you need to upgrade that then you can for very little cost.
