I have one 250gig harddrive that I have finally filled up, so I decided to take my harddrive out of my old computer and put it in my new one. This harddrive is split into 2 pieces with each one being I believe 125 gigs each. I installed the harddrives and booted my PC and my computer finds the harddrives. I then go to my computer where its Labeled as F drive.

I assumed that when I put in the other harddrive it would just be a plug and go type of thing, but when I try to open the harddrive it brings up a menu that tells me I need to format this harddrive to use it. Do I not have a choice and I have to format this harddrive? And is formating a difficult thing to do? I would really like some input before I move forward into formatting.

To format, you have to be on XP pro, or at least Vista Home premium > right click my computer > manage > disk management > click the hard drive, format it... Half hour(unless quick format)... Done.

But this is built into Windows, and I love it.
