this happens everytime i try to reformat the harddrive, ive tried this with 2 disks now so that isnt the problem , it formats the harddrive just fine but when it gets to the copying the files it gets to about 10% and says something about an error that it couldnt copy a file and to check that if im using a windows xp disc its in the dvd drive ive done this about 4 times now so im thinking its the harddrive but could it be the dvd drive? i didnt think its the dvd drive because it wouldnt even format the harddrive or even run in the first place would it.

I'm thinking your cd is damaged more than anything else.

Can you try to get a new cd first? From a friend or an ISO img? I don't want to talk about it here gamespot is picky on stupid stuff.

The problem is your CD not the HDD.

Ignore the file & install the windowsÂ
