Um, this may sound really stupid but I have no idea what mobo to get cause im buying a X2 6000 (3.0 GHz) and I've never heard about AMD performance much or whats needed to run AMD parts....I was originally going for the E6750 but saving money is my main priority atm and I was getting the DS3L mobo for the intel proc. but can I still use that one? If not what mobo shud I get?

mobo must have amd chipset inorder to use amd processor.basically chipset is the one that allows which processor u can use.

not the mobo itself

You will have to match socket types. The AMD X2 6000 is socket AM2. That Intel E6750 is socket 775. The DS3L board is socket 775, so it will not work with the AMD processor.

AMD Mobo's only work with AMD Processors, same goes for Intel CPU's + Boards, simple logic my friend.

And ifyou want to save money,get a E2160 and Gigabyte DS3L and OC,but if not OCing,get X2 4800 and Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3.

Whats the difference between the GA-MA69GM-S2H and the GA-M61P-S3. They are the exact same price too...I'm very new to AMD.

Different chipsets, though i do believe the 690G is better than the GeFrce 61**'s.

Opinions?

Its a SIMPLE FACT that AMD CPU's don't work in Intel Boards and Intel CPU's don't work in AMD boards :|

The S2H has a PCI-E x4 connector but no PCI-E x1 connectors and fewer PCI connectors, it also has DVI, S/PDIF and HDMI while the S3 does not. It kind of comes down to how much you value those extra two PCI slots (which are nice, but hardly essential). I'm not exactly a fan of Micro-ATX to begin with, but the S2H is the board I would pick if I had to choose.

Well that entirely depends on the boards in question. ;)

There aren't really many good AMD mobos imo. But if I had to choose one, it would def be the one above. It's the best AMD motherboard by far, and although it's made by ASUS, it's still good. It's stable, a good overclocker, and supports am2. It is a bit expensive, but I would definately pay the extra money to get that motherboard as it's one of the few really stable am2 mobos that I know of and it comes with a decent sound card. And a mic.

lol, don't get a micro atx board. it's for a different type of case, the smaller ones. the motherboards you picked out really suck. the good amd mobos are in the 150-250 range, go for a 590 board that isn't asus, unless you're going for the crosshair one i listed above.

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe is a good board (I would phrase it "great" in fact)..I don't know what you mean there aren't many good AMD mobos, most of the M2N line could be considered good.

the m2n line is actually famous for its RAM compatibility issues, not to mention, the one with the wireless built in has some issues, and the wireless isn't exactly top notch either. the deluxe is a decent mobo, but if he's trying to save money, it's still ~170 and the bios is kinda complicated, so it's not for beginners, which the op is.

Well I had heard that it was hit or miss, but I had also heard that it could generally use commodity RAM (mine isn't listed and works fine). BTW, the price on the SLI Deluxe has come down a lot..its $130 now compared to $150ish when I bought it.

Looks like a good mobo specwise, but like I said, it's an asus mobo. judging from the reviews, the quality control on that board is way off. people are either getting good ones, or broken/doa ones. i wouldnt take the chance personally.
