I had reusable CDs, but DVDs are more complicated.  Which do I need to re write files? What brand is best?  I'm trying to put all my music collection onto one DVD.  This is abiut 800 songs lol. Will I be able to play the (music) DVD as if it was a CD over my DVD Player?

Most optical-disk-based music players will not be able to read DVD's.  CD-R's are supported by almost any CD player, but some don't support CD-RW's.

you need DVD +/- RW to rewrite on DVDs. DVD +/- R cannot delete anything. You could also get DVD RAM but they are more expencive and will not work in the majority of normal DVD players.
