Why would he be? Sounds like a reasonable question. Sudden advances in technology or new software innovations can jump up on you sometimes.

Whether you upgrade is up to you. I know that my now 4 1/2 year old Sony Bravia has basically not been the best of the best, but what I like is how it fits my needs. I don't need it to fit everyone else's. I have no plans to replace mine anytime soon.

No. LCDs will never beat plasmas, not even "crystal LEDs". OLEDs will, but the technology is still in it's infancy. Prices will be high and color accuracy will be poor. It will take a bit for the price to come down and the issues with the first few generations to be fixed.

Not at all. OLED will need time to mature, just as plasma did. That took a few years before they really started to be great. 3D is still catching on, so you're TV will last until DisplayPort starts being used more often. 1080p still isn't available for TV shows. 4k2k, unless you're PC gaming, won't be at the same level 1080p is for awhile.

Your 2011 Panasonic Plasma should be close to the best available depending on what model you bought. Since you are considering upgrading so soon, it seems like you value getting the best picture/tech available so I assume you bought a higher end Panasonic plasma and as such you'd be hard pressed finding a better picture in any currently produced TV.
