Most definitely. Hell, I'm going to upgrade to 4 gigs here soon. More RAM always is better.most games can run with 1gig of ram but is 2gigs reall neccessary? will i notice a difference ?

2 Gigs really isn't all that necessary. 1GB will get you where you're going. If you look at the Gamespot hardware guides there really isn't much of a difference between using 1 gig and 2 gigs in terms of performance gain. In Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (a game with some of the highest graphics requirements available) the game got the same number of frames per second with both 1 and 2 Gigs. You can look for yourself I suppose. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6147127/p-7.html
You will get faster load times but that's all I really see for it. With the newest games I'd say it could be worth it to buy up to 1.5 gigs. No one ever mentions that option though...
One thing though: I haven't experienced Window's Vista. I'd be willing to recommend 2 gigs for that since the operating system has a focus on graphics and visual effects. But if you're not upgrading soon you'll be fine without it.
Depends on what type of RAM it is though. If its DDR, then upgrading to 2 gigs might not be worth it since those are starting to phase out for the "now standard"(I guess) DDR2.I have DDR2 ram
Definately something to think about if youre someone who upgrades the parts in your rig ;)

I am also planning on upgrading to Vista but thats probably when Crysis comes out. I just built a new rig btw except i only got 1gig of ram for it because im not sure if 2gigs is really needed.2 Gigs really isn't all that necessary. 1GB will get you where you're going. Black, you've got an x1300? You can force feed your computer as much RAM as you want, it's not going to fix that graphics card bottle neck. Spend your money wisely.
As for you kato, 2GB looks like the way to go since you're going for the OS and Crysis. You could just hold off on buying the RAM until the game comes out. Though us mortals don't really know what the recommended RAM for Crysis is going to be.

Maybe he doesn't do gaming?Well if your using Vista, absolutely. Vista itself uses ~700MB of memory just on startup with no bloatware installed other than what comes with an OEM version of Vista.. You can get away with 1gb with XP but considering RAM prices, 2GB is definetely worth the performance increase.jremirubbish, i just installed vista premium today and even after adding loads of apps and stuff it uses less than 500mb of ram, 1gb is fine for now...
