I know that CRT monitors need screensavers to prevent burn-in, but LCDs don't need it right?
What about LED monitors (backlit)?

Well if I'm not mistaken LED monitors are just LCD monitor with LEDs behind the plasma. I wouldn't see an LED problem as LEDs have a long life span. As far as the LCD goes I really don't know.
LED monitors are LCD monitors.
All newer monitor technologies do not need screensavers.
Plasma displays suffer slightly from image retention, and a screen saver may help.... But its probably better just to make the screen saver black to conserve a Plasma's brightness.
I don't get the point of screen savers. If you're not using the monitor just turn it off and enjoy the savings on your electricity bill too.
LCD's (the technology itself) is not immune to burn in.
My brother in law (ex) had a dell 26 inch lcd (not a newer model) that had Pro Tools literally burned into the image, I could see the Pro Tools Panning tools, even when the desktop screen is up and Pro Tools isn't even open...
Of course that is his Ignorant mistake, He left it on for literally days upon Days upon Days, with the same screen up... He even did the same thing to my Sisters 32 inch lcd, that I gave to her.
They do not burn in nearly as quick as plasma and CRT. But it IS still possible!
If you have a brain, and actually take care of your equipment this won't happen, just be mindful!
