Why, you ask? Because Ubisoft has lied to all of us about their DRM.

EDIT: It is now the official word that the game only requires an Internet connection to launch the game, and not at all times. But still, a far cry from what they first announced.

Additionally, the game is horrendously optimized for PC, with everything and then some that you would expect from a bad port.

More on the story at Neoseeker...

Thanks for the heads up. This kind of looked Black and White 2ish and I was interested, guess not.

Man, this is soooo bad. Ubisoft is a terrible developer when it comes to the PC, but I thought they were doing good with there past few releases to the PC. I take that back with the release of From Dust. This game would be perfect on PC. Its a shame that didn't even bother to make the effort.

Someone else posted this morning that it was a bad port as well......a few others that had played it agreed with it as well.

OMG - the article said no in-game graphics settings, not even AA. How do they expect to sell this game on the PC?

Its not the best port thats forsure.

Kind of dissapointing after seeing how good Bastion port turned out around the same time.

i already knew you were going to say the drm problem before i clicked. I'm sure if anyone isn't getting it just because of this they'll wait for a price drop atleast.. it looks fun nonetheless

I played the 360 version and to be honest it was pretty fun, the sound design is great, it looked pretty decent and the fluid effects (Water, lava, etc.) are astounding, how could Ubisoft mess an RTS (?) so much? (Stormrise still takes the cake, but at least it tried to innovate although to be fair RTS's on consoles have become fairly playable nowadays)

Believe me, I wanted to buy this game too. But the fact that Ubisoft lied about what type of DRM it was going to have, let alone put out a crappy port for the PC platform, really drives me away from wanting to support such practices.

Meh, the lack of graphical options isn't that big of a deal. Why don't people get in such an uproar over the lack of Quicksave and Quickload? Regardless, the deal with the DRM and the way they handled it is despicable. It's a fun game for me because I didn't have any of the bugs.

Well all this DRM and its optimization, bad port routine!

I was deciding on whether to get this game (From Dust) or Bastion earlier.. Man I am so glad I went with Bastion. (the game is fantastic, had a little time to play with it, and I am enjoying it very much) I highly recommend that game to any one that is an indi game enthusiast or anyone that loves action RPG games.

Hopefully From Dust gets fixed and patched up. Wouldn't mind trying it during a major sale or something later on.

I dont know what you guys are talking about...

First of all the game isnt that good...i mean ived played about an hour or so...and it is very very repetitive...u can only do so little with the nature around you...

I dont know but for me its avery average/normal game...nothing new nothing oustanding...From Dust is still fun dont get me wrong...but nothing out of the ordinary...

And second of all...i dont know why u guys complain about the DRM scheme...I have a bunch of games from UBI with which i never had problems(regarding DRM)...I own AC1,AC2,Brotherhood the whole R6 collection,Conviction,From Dust...I never had any problems with those games(regarding the DRM)not a single problem....

I was so hyped for it because it was made by Eric Chahi.

Played about an hour of it and wow, what a dissapointment. Definitely the worst port of the year, you really have to play it with a controller. It's baffling how little time was put into the PC version...

I preordered a while ago and couldn't be bothered cancelling the order before the game came out, so I've got a few impressions to add. While I dislike the fact that they lied about the DRM, I've had no problems with the game so far. It installed and ran just fine, and the game plays fairly smoothly. The camera controls are a bit wonky, true, and the mouse seems just a tad too slow, but those are tiny niggles - certainly nothing game breaking. Beyond that, the game itself is fine. The first few levels drag a bit, since it has to teach you the absolute basics of how the elements interact with eachother, but each level after that introduces more and more stuff - new god-powers, new trees/explosives, new environmental effects (the constantly-shifting desert was pretty awesome, as was the level with the extreme tides), and new challenges in general. It's not the best game ever, but it is a good-looking and mostly unique budget-priced puzzle game with a lot of style and amazing physics simulations. I'm happy with my purchase.

Or maybe I could since I couldn't care less about DRM like this. I don't mind if I have to always have internet. So I guess I will be able to enjoy the game on my PC.

Game has fantastic controls, runs better than Counter Strike, has a basketful of graphics features, and the DRM isn't half bad.

Ubi has been very unpredictable lately. The one thing clear is they do not have customers in mind as of late.

Ya not going to lie, I watched some console reviews and thought the game would be pretty fun. It is fun but lacks the pretty. Rather bare bones port.
