Naaa, you dont need a pc specificly made for gaming in order to game, it has more to do with looking at the requirements of a game, and make sure they are not higher then the specs of your pc.

That said, I am not sure how those specific games will run on your laptop, I am sure some good member of the community will answer that question.

But about the title question, there is not REALLY such a thing as a "gaming PC" they are hist PCs with high end specs, and usually alot of really ugly lights to boot ;P You could build a pc yourself and it would be just as powerful, if you used the same componants...

I dont think your PC is completely run to the dust old and useless, so I am in good hopes that you will be able to have atleast some decent games run on it ^^

You can game on any pc or laptop. How good it looks and how well it runs is another thing. You should list how much and of what type of RAM your laptop also has, and if possible what kind of frequency that CPU has. But I'd say you should be able to run at least a few games on somewhat good settings. 1980 to 2008 I'd imagine. I'm hardly an expert though.

No, however PC gaming machines are build to be able to play the very newest and demanding games with ease. It all depends on the hardware but nowadays most computers and laptops can play a large variety of games. As for the games you've listed, I'm rather sure you can run them but I'm unsure if you can get the highest graphics, you might need to settle with Medium.

Hardware is grossly overpowered next to the current crop of software. The vast majority of games will run fantastically on your computer and with great visuals. You might have to make some adjustments on the more demanding titles, but they'll still end up looking gorgeous. I can vouch for this, and my 8800GT isn't even low end gaming tier anymore.

It all depends on the kind of quality you want in your games you play. If you PC have mid range specs, you could probably play most games at medium graphic quality.

basically look at the back of the box. of your PC is better than the min specs then you will be able to run it. it wont run at its best but itll run. your PC is actually pretty good TC. i wouldnt be worried about needing to replace the whole machine for some time yet. if i was to recommend an upgrade then it would be the GPU. i dont know what ram you have but if its 2GB or over (ideall 4GB) then thats great. a radeon 5770 or 5850 or a geforce 470 would make for excellent upgrades. your CPU is solid though and if your happy to do a bit of nipping and tucking with your games then your GPU should be fine also.

For now your Pc is good ( and since you have a quad core the only think you will be updating any time soon will be a graphics card ) With your setup you can play most games even new ones at least at 720p with medium/high settings ( older ones like race driver grid probably high settings with out a problem )

Very true. Hardware is waaaay ahead in the "arms race" right now, and game developers want to reach the biggest possible market segment, so unless they're making Crysis, they don't target the very highest end systems. They don't want to limit their sales potential that way. TC, you should be able to run a lot of games just fine on that system. If you're not sure, check the recommended system requirements of the games you're interested in, and compare to your PC. Not the minimum requirements, the recommended! Very important. If you're not sure, you can always come back and ask, this forum is usually pretty helpful. :)
