can this be the definition of Hardcore gamer ?... "A hardcore gamer is one who's born to play games & will keep playing until he dies.... he plays all genre of games & plays them well & has a good experience. respects all platforms & doesn't really care about just graphics" :o
me ? i think im a casual gamer but a hardcore shooting fan.. imo fps & other shootersare the next best thing to sex. shooters ftw! crazy about shooters!! :D & sometimes i also like to play racing games like nfs.
Yeah, I'd consider myself a hardcore gamer.
It's all subjective and relative anyway since there are no established definitions for the terms as they apply to gamers. Personally though, I consider myself hardcore, and it's not because of the amount of time I play (which is not nearly enough) or skill level.
Rather it's because of level of interest with staying informed (following news, forums, etc), the amount of games I play (high "attachment rate" in game purchases for example), the types of games (pretty much anything, and not limited to games aimed at more "casual" gamers -- PopCap, The Sims, or even potentially the Wii for example), and also that I'm very consistent in my interest in gaming rather than being a more off-and-on type of gamer.
do u consider urself a hardcore gamer?GTR2addictNo not anymore. But I sure don't consider myself a casual either. I am a lot closer to hardcore than to casual. When I was younger I was super hardcore. Staying up all night and days on end to play games was a common thing for me in my teens. I still have times where I spend a good 8-10 hours straight on a game.
Ohh I consider my self hardcore, even though I don't play as much as I use to (Finishing university), when I do play I pwn.
I've been a gamer for the better part of my life. started on the NES, first comp was a P1 166MMX, man was that a power machine back in the day.
I play most newest release, I play FPS, RTS, RPG. Occasionally racing. I also compete at LAN competitions, been at No Mans LAN for the past two years, and other local lans, won some pretty cool gear. I was planning on going to NVision but that plan went to hell.
I don't play as much as many people, and often occupied with other things (such as my life :P ), I have gone more casual but still find time plenty of time for it.
i'd say i'm casual. I game a lot, but barely online, nor do i finish games over and over. flipin_jackass
I am totally the opposite of you! I am a really good online gamer, I play alot of games like RuneScape and Final Fantasy.net!
I'd say I am a hardcore gamer, I play alot of games, and I always finish games at least 3 or 4 times until I get bored with them. It's awesome to play alot of games.
I play games way too much to consider myself "casual", but hardcore isn't an apt description. There's something about it that implies a competitive nature, at least in my mind, that doesn't seem fitting when describing me. That "in your face" kind of attitude that I see in a lot of fellow gamers, especially when it comes to anything with a versus component, is a bit baffling to me.
well, im in teh middle ground, i game alot, but not too much, how bout u guys?GTR2addict
By the look of your sig, you sir are a hardcore gamer. Judging by the fact that I'm responding to a post in a dedicated game site's forum, I am a hardcore gamer.
Hardcore here:
Given that literally use vacation hours to play video games and I have been known to plan a gaming vacation.
That said I agree with most that what makes a person a hard core gamer is not the time or skill but the level of intrest.
If you can fairly say "I would rather be gaming" then you are a hard core gamer.

Pretty much. I think it's a competitive thing also. I've curbed my competitiveness in my older age but I see myself in my son and his very compeitive nature. I've played games my whole live and I don't play to loose so I quess that make me hardcore.

Thing is I am not at all competetive. I am pretty much a solo gamer who likes building (building worlds, money, skills etc).
What will be fun to watch in the gaming world is how it becomes generational and how it actually brings families together. (At least the men/boys. Girls do whatever they do do)
Funny you should say that. I use to buy games for my dad to play before he died. He got me hooked on chess as a child and computer game as an adult. X-COM UFO Defense is what I saw him play one day and next thing you know I was out buying a 486 and the game.
I used to consider myself a hardcore gamer, but not anymore. I still play games everyday, lots of hours too, but I don't plan my life around it or let it get in the way of real life stuff anymore. I am casual now, but it is still my main hobby.
