I know because of the location of this post most people probably build their own but I just wanted to know.

I build my own pc's mainly because of the money issue. I wouldn't really say building your pc is better than buying one because if I could afford a nice pc from Voo Doo, Falcon NW, Alienware, even Dell's XPS I'd buy one. When you get a prebuilt system you just know everything's going to work and the cases and wiring one those systems are top notch. But I've still built the last two computers because I can keep them around $1000 (I reuse hds, cd drives, case and other stuff) and get the same components that would have otherwise cost me a couple hundred more if I bought it prebuilt.
I've had two pre-builts in the past (but that was when I was around 10 years old) and both of them died within 1-2 years (that's because I was getting very interested in computers then and I wanted to see how computers work, so I ripped out the parts, and some I manage to re-connect successfully :D)
But since then, always have built my own - and all have been working fine (been through around 5 builds, I keep selling the computers when I need money :()
